hi I have the exact same problem except now my Apple Music library just disappeared during the tech support call with apple after they asked me to try logging out and logging back in. here is the support email they will get back to me as well.
can i download movies to apple tv 4k
My Apple TV, as of last night, decided to stop playing movies I have already purchased. I spent an hour trying to trouble shoot the issue myself with no luck. Everything else seems to work as it should, Netflix streams perfectly, even the previews to any movie, including the ones I have purchased. When I select the play option of a puchased movie it will authenticate if needed, then go to the loading screen as if its going to start playing. A couple second will go by, anticipating the movies timeline will pop up and the movie to start playing, it will just kick me back out to the movies cover screen (screen with the movie I want to watch with its preview, play, and more.. buttons).
Somehow it feels the link between my account and the movies ive purchace is broken... apple obviously knows ive purchased them since they are in my purchased bin... I just cant watch them. Furstrating... Im not going to spend $10 bucks on a movie to see if the newly purchased movie will work either.
I have the same problem here with a client's AppleTVs (multiple - all updated firmware this past week). I did everything you did, including logging in with another iTunes account. Best I could get was loading one movie after a factory reset. No additonal movies will play with either account. Worked fine up until last week. Also switching between ethernet and wireless; no difference.
I am in the same boat. I have tried the exact same steps to try to resolve and nothing is working. Playing my movies is not the issue because i can watch them from my iMac through itunes streamed so the issue is something on the Apple TV. I would think that Apple would know about this at this point.
Everything network wise is identical to the way it was before the issue started. There have been no changes whatsoever and internet connectivity is not at issue. Everything else on the apple tv is functional, i can even run the connectivity test and have it pass, though it seems much slower to complete than it should.
I just went ahead and checked it again. I verified that indeed the location, regional, and time zone are all correct for my location. It prompted me to also log back into my itunes account. Before i did this check i attempted to play The Avengers, which did get past authentication and actually started playing. So i then tried The Little Mermaid, which did not work. I checked the settings above and then went back in and tried Blues Brothers, same problem. So while it may be working for others and seemed to work for at least one of my movies, it is not working for the majority. Blues Brothers and Lord of the Rings are both SD movies and Little Mermaid is HD. It doesn't seem to matter.
I happened to check my Apple TV today after work and all seems to be well now. Magically the issue has been fixed. My guess is that this problem was on apples side, most likely the authentification server...
I live in Australia and my Apple TV is having the same issue. I have done everything "holden21" has suggested too and had no luck. My movies have been downloaded or copied from DVD from and added to iTunes and has played flawlessly until recently.
I want to screen record some video of a movie that I bought on iTunes as I want to do an in-depth analysis of said movie for my youtube channel, but I cannot find anyway to record the screen whilst the movie is playing and I only want to cut the movie up so that I can upload it under fair use. Can anyone help me record or cut iTunes movies so I can have both audio and visuals? If you can only manage visuals it is fine. But if there is no other way can you please tell me a way to get the footage from somewhere else?
It's no coincidence that Netflix is dropping two of its biggest original films of the year right before the long Christmas holiday weekend. Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire and Maestro are likely to place near the top of the most popular movies on Netflix almost as soon as they come out. Although when awards season starts next year, our money is on Maestro to be a prime contender.
Those two films have joined other recent arrivals including Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Love and Monsters, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie as the best movies on Netflix right now. That's a pretty impressive way to close out 2023.
With films from up-and-comers like Minhal Baig, arthouse favorites like Sofia Coppola and Werner Herzog, some A-list music docs and one of the best animated movies of the 2020s, Apple TV+ is actually making the case that it belongs in the conversation alongside the more established services. As long as it keeps adding good movies to its roster, that is. It recently snagged a few critical darlings like CODA and Wolfwalkers.
In 2019, Apple released an updated version of their TV app for iOS, macOS, and Apple TV featuring an all new design where artwork for TV shows and movies was displayed as 16:9 rather than the 1:1 squares they had been using in iTunes. Over the summer, I received a lot of emails asking when my iTunes Artwork Finder would be updated to support this new artwork and I'm happy to say that this is the result.
What does the country selector do?
It chooses which Apple Storefront is used for searching; effectively it changes the search results based on what country you search in as different countries have different TV shows and movies available in them. Generally you'll want to set this to be the same as the country you use for the TV app but the option is there to change it as you may be searching for shows that aren't available in your location.
Indeed, while Apple TV+ is popular for its streaming series such as Ted Lasso, Severance, and Schmigadoon!, its movie roster is definitely worthy of consideration. By combining the works of both iconic and newcomer directors and studios alongside its own Apple TV+ originals, the service has established a strong foothold in a streaming industry dominated by even bigger names. Just as the best TV shows on Apple TV+ showcase a diverse range of talent, so do the best Apple TV+ movies.
Bryan Tyree Henry earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 2023 Oscars for his performance in Causeway, which is a much-deserved recognition of his centrality to the movie's success. Also starring Jennifer Lawrence in a gripping lead performance, the Apple TV+ Original movie follows Lawrence's Lynsay, a soldier who struggles to adjust to life back home after she returns to New Orleans. Causeway deservedly ranks among the best Apple TV+ movies, proving a hit with both casual viewers and professional critics alike.
Ridley Scott is considered the master of battle scenes, and in that regard, he is in top form with Napoleon. The director reunites with Gladiator villain Joaquin Phoenix to chronicle the rise and fall of the infamous French military commander (Phoenix). In addition to Napoleon's journey to emperor-dom, the film pays significant attention to his relationship with Empress Joséphine (Vanessa Kirby). While Napoleon takes some liberties with the truth, the Oscar-winning Phoenix is perfectly cast as the complex historical figure, and in addition to those battle scenes, his chemistry with Kirby makes the film not just one of the biggest movies on Apple TV+, but also the best.
Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali stars alongside Glenn Close, Naomie Harris, and Awkwafina in Swan Song, a romantic sci-fi film that raises existential questions about what it means to be human. The movie tells the story of a terminally ill man given the option to replace himself with a clone and spare his family's grief, leaving him to contemplate whether to discuss the offer with his wife. Apple TV+'s Swan Song has been praised for its cast, particularly Ali, who was nominated for a BAFTA Film Award and a Golden Globe for his performance, and deservedly ranks as one of the best movies on Apple TV+.
Part biopic, part Cold War thriller, Tetris is more than a video game movie adaptation. The Apple TV+ movie tells the surprisingly dark story of how the titular game became a global phenomenon. In 1988, US-based entrepreneur and video game designer Henk Rogers (Taron Egerton) works to obtain the rights to Tetris from its programmer Alexey Pajitnov (Nikita Yefremov). Enamored with what he believes to be the greatest game ever, Rogers risks his life to cross the Iron Curtain and contact the game's creator itself, eventually finding a way into Russia when tensions between the two nations are at their highest. For true gamers, lovers of history, and viewers looking for compelling, real-life political intrigue, Tetris is one of the best Apple TV+ movies in any genre.
It's more of an animated short than a movie, but considering the subject matter (and the fact Apple TV Plus doesn't have that many movies) we're adding it. Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth is gorgeous, heart-warming and perfect for families with young kids.
