A new (experimental) offline viewer is available at
http://nargila.org/trac/robostroke/wiki/WikiStart#OfflineViewer. The
viewer is started by Java Webstart. I can launch the viewer directly
from my desktop browser (firefox on Linux). You can download Talos
Rowing session recording files from your device or *.trsd files you
have exported via the 'share' menu during a session replay.

Tal - I'm thrilled that you are experimenting with offline viewing. For me this has been the missing link. Currently I am running your app (to give me the real time info I want in the boat) on top of Sportstracker to give me the shore-side analysis. I'd love to give the viewer a try but when launching talos-rowing.jnlp from either my desktop or from Firefox I get the following error:

MissingFieldException[ The following required field is missing from the launch file: <jnlp><information><vendor>]
at com.sun.javaws.jnl.XMLFormat.buildInformationDesc(Unknown Source)
at com.sun.javaws.jnl.XMLFormat.parse(Unknown Source)

at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source)
at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

I'm not a developer and only vaguely familiar with Java so I may be doing something wrong.
Regards,
MM

I have added some more fields to the launch configuration file. Could you try launching it again please?

That fixed it! I am running the viewer and happily watching my row from last Saturday. I "shared" the .trsd file on my device, emailed it to myself then opened it on my desktop. The new viewer also runs successfully in Firefox and Internet Explorer - all on Windows.

Now, I'm trying to figure out how to pause, rewind, fast forward. I suspect that will be a future development? Also would love to see it run on a background of a Google map. Too much?

There is a slider for scrolling and a '=' for pausing.

Found it. Thanks. Don't know how I did it but I also got it to speed up and eventually, clicking here and there, I got it to slow back down again.

I'm not seeing interval data: time, meters or stroke count, just total time and total meters and current stroke rate and pace. No average stroke rate either.

Also, when I back up a few clicks to replay a segment, the total meters does not back up or reset. It remains the same and then when I continue, the meters count continues up. For example, if I'm 3000M into a row, then I back up 1000M, I would expect to see 2000M as the total. Instead I still see 3000M and when I replay those 1000M and get back to where I was, the total meter count is 4000M.

I tried to export the file from the Viewer menu but it didn't work. I was able to select the parameters I wanted to export and clicked Export but nothing happened. No file dialog to ask me for a file name or a file location.

Thanks,
M

Interesting... if I pause the replay, then drag the slider forward or backward and click the pause icon again, the replay speeds way up. If I then click anywhere on the slider bar other than the arrow itself, it slows back down to normal speed. If I click the slider bar to move forward or backward in increments, the speed does not change.
