Mykid as a set of Oculus Quest 2 VR goggles and currently we are getting a new house designed. The architect is sending us links to an enscape file we can view and navigate in online. Already here it is amazing, but is there any way we can view and navigate inside the house using my kid's goggles?
Hello Adam, thanks for the info , do you ever had the issue of the VR view shaking while using it ? i have a quest 2 and using the rhino enscape file in my computer connected with the link cable. It keeps shaking while moving inside the model. All other softwares work fine, unfortunately only enscape has this issues ,
Ive linked my account to the headset but none of my files are showing even though they are supported file types. i asked oculus and was told to ask here because they said it wasnt an issue with the headset but with the service.
Mods can go ahead and delete/lock this thread...i found a workaround for it...problem was i dont have (and dont plan to have) a PC so i couldnt just plug it in and transfer but i just used my xbox to upload from the external drive the videos where on, downloaded them on to my tablet from there, reformatted them, then uploaded to google from tablet and downloaded them on to the headset from there...took a bit of time but it works
Setting up the Dropbox app on a virtual machine or desktop or sync virtual machine program files could work however, we cannot really indicate whether it would work fully as expected, considering each third party VR software, may have unexpected configurations.

Yes me too i have the same problem. It appeared after the last Oculus Quest Update V12.
So it is an Oculus Problem and there are People already posting in the Oculus comunity support section. I hope Oculus will see it and can fix it soon, because Dropbox is one of the few ways to easily transfer files..(in my case 3D stereoscopic Pictures and Videos) to this device and into the Oculus Gallery.
I have an Oculus Quest 2 with the link cable along with virtual desktop installed on my PC. I can see Enscape on Sketchup with Virtual desktop but get a searching for head mounted display when I select the VR icon. I don't want to deal with the hassle of side quest. Anyone got any tips? I saw someone posted to change the Oculus app to allow unknown devices but I do not see that anywhere on either the phone or the headset settings. Do I need to use virtual desktop to have an immersive experience
The Quest 2 is really a good headset in both quality and the ease of use. Ofcourse in case of visual clarity it's good but there are better HMD's on the market. I think the Quest 2 is for me the sweet spot. Use it as standalone, tethered or on Wifi, all is possible. No external sensores or bulky hardware needed.
For me the Quest 2 and original Rift headset look the same in VR when the Quest 2 is tethered to the PC. My PC runs an Quadro RTX 5000 card, which is on the high end, but Enscape limits the quality for VR to one step lower than the highest quality. This is one of the main reasons to consider using OTHER programs for high quality VR due to their ability to bake the lighting and put less strain on the GPU during the live experience.
HI @Jason_David, I have a quest 2 at home and I have had my own issues with casting straight from the quest. The way I work around it is casting to my ipad using the Oculus app (you do have to sign in with your account that you are using for the Quest). I then connect a HDMI cable to my ipad and plug it to my tv. Do you think this will work. It may have bad resolution though.
Hi Jason, I have a work around to casting. If you start casting before you go in a immersive web experience e.g the web version of cospace, then you go into the game it will still be casting. I tried last night and it worked.
so i exported enscape as a standalone file while i was in the VR mode so i can view it with my Oculus quest 2! it worked but moving around in the space was not smooth and when i turn my hide to another side it starts rendering it! and if i view it in draft quality,, it looks horrible, all materials are gone!.. is there a solution for this.. i actually convinced my boss to buy enscape for the VR reason and the idea is that we send the client the oculus so they can view the model using the oculus! i dont want to tell the client to download enscape and sketchup and open the file and then view it in VR.. please help i am desperate thanks
joudi , there are no dedicated standalone files available yet for the Oculus Quest 2 - can you briefly go into detail how exactly your setup looks like? How did you achieve displaying the standalone files in the Quest 2 in any case, wirelessly via Wifi, or wired, or did you actually get it to run on the Quest 2 itself alone?
i dont quit remember i was just playing around but i remember i connect it through air link to the same wifi im using on my PC and then Enscape hot Launcher started and i can see it on my oculus app library and then i saw the standalone file there too.
is there a way to convert the stand alone enscape file as .APK extension and then use VR side converter and then upload it on the oculus quest 2 headset and then view it? because i have the VR side converter but it doesnt recongnise enscape stnd alone .exe extention.
joudi , there really is no known way to convert an Enscape standalone file to be used independently without a machine in the Quest itself I'm afraid. Panoramas should easily be viewable in the included browser (so make sure to upload them to our cloud too), or even third-party browsers you can get in the Oculus Store. Gladly give it a try and if you experience any problems let me know.
hi Demian. the panoramas work great! i just really need to achieve a walkthrough.. can you explain to me how to view vr walkthrough while connected to the laptop please... im sure im doing something wrong..thank you
joudi , if you wish to use Enscape while tethered to a machine, then that is no problem - you can acquire a dedicated Oculus link cable from here if you have not gotten one yet, or simply use a third-party cable, make sure it says anything like "Link / Oculus Quest ready" (it's just a fast USB C cable, but you want to make sure it's long enough and not too heavy. The length you go for is up to you.) - you should find plenty on amazon as well.
Alternatively, if your internet connection allows it, you could also use Oculus Air Link (which requires no cables) - but you'll d really require a decent router/Internet connection for that. Give it a try of course if you want since it's free as well.
thank you i will try and let you know... but could you guys please hurry up making standalone walkthrough files compatable with oculus quest or have the option to xport the file as APK that would be awesome.. thank you so much have a beautiful day ahead
I have forwarded your wish and we're also aware of the demand for standalone files for the Quest, or upcoming Quest systems. There aren't any concrete plans just yet but stay tuned. And have a lovely day ahead as well!
Has there been any update on this? We just purchased a Meta Quest 2 thinking this would be easy, but we are having trouble getting models to load when connected with the cord.
Would love to be able to show off our buildings to our clients without having to send a computer and the headset to them.
Also, the Meta Quest 2 is unfortunately still not capable enough to really handle Enscape standalones and even if so, they'd have to be limited by nature and mostly larger scenes would stutter. This might become a topic again once the Meta Quest 3 or another more powerful standalone VR device releases, but for now there aren't any plans for that.
As an alternative you may also depending on the project and such submit a panorama gallery alongside either using our own provided tools or third party solutions. This can, for some, be an addition to VR as it also allows you view the project in 360 degrees, be it from fixed perspectives of course. Just to share an example you can check out this tour from Paul Russam here.
