movement wins in 2025 & an interview re. reproductive and prisoner justice

Hello supporters of Talking Radical,

I have a few items for you today!

The first is my annual round-up of grassroots wins in so-called Canada published at The Breach, "15 movement victories in 2025 you may not have heard about." I talk about things like the grassroots coalition that defeated Bill 97 in Quebec, the win against looming de-funding of feminist and queer organizations across the country, successful strikes and unionization drives, the many little victories won by pro-Palestine organizers over the year, and lots more.

The second is the latest in my series of interview about learning in, from, and for social movements at The Media Co-op. Nurse and writer Martha Paynter talks with me about the intersection of reproductive and prisoner justice, the importance of connecting with organizations that work in those areas, and friendship-making as the basis for organizing.

It is a time of year when some people turn their attention to giving. There are many, many social movements and grassroots projects that deserve whatever dollars you can spare, but one I'd encourage you to check out is the year-end fundraiser by the Palestinian Youth Movement. They have been doing some of the most important organizing in North America, including in Canada, against the Israeli state's genocidal violence in Gaza.
