Let user choose to show age or time of the tweets

ive looked some into http://talkingpuffin.org:8080/jira/browse/TPUF-64 (Let user choose to show age or time of the tweets)
After implementing it  i realised that changing the content of the "Age" column to Date makes the sorting suddenly flip. this although beeing very logical does not feel very user friendly.

Im not realy sure what should be a good solution to it? Any suggestions?

Perhaps the sorting should operate on the same number it does now (how
old the tweet is), whether that number is rendered as an age or a
date. Or, the direction of the sort could be switched automatically
when the user toggles between date and age.
