Does anyone know, do I have to join Apple Music in order to enable my iCloud music library? I am trying  to back up the 86 GB of music on my iPhone to my iCloud music library.  I bought enough storage space but cannot get voiceover to find the iCloud music library settings in order to enable it.

Hi Mark:
You should not have to join Apple Music for this to work. However, it seems as though the settings for Music, iTunes, and music library, music back up, etc. are kind of messy. I would have to recommend that you go slowly through the settings on your phone, explore anything that looks like it could be remotely related. Honestly I have not had good luck managing my music on my phone. I have about half of it synced and half of it says it is unavailable, even though it came from my own CDs. I’m pretty discouraged about that. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

                             Hi Mark,

I think what you need to do is sign up for Itunes Match. This is different from Apple Music. I believe the current charge for it is $25.00 per year. I hope this helps.

Yes, you have two options. I Tunes match. wich I think also is at $24.99 a year, or sign up fo Apple Music for $9.99 a month or $14.99 a month for a family up to 6 a month like I did.

Now, if you have enough iclud space, just back up all your music on that using files. But there are cheaper ways like Google Drive or other cloud services.

I never thought of using Files, and to be honest with you I have never used it. Thanks for the option to explore.

iCloud is only three dollars a month for 200 gigs and I only have a 128 gig iPhone, so it seemed the simplest solution. Now I’m just burned out on the whole process.

Thanks, all.

Hello Mark:
Welcome to Apple! Their music system absolutely stinks these days it’s just impossible to work with. I have become cynical, if you haven’t noticed :-) sorry you’ve had that experience too. Take care

I would have to say that backing up to an extra dry or one zone computer would be a better deal. Why should you pay them to back up your music when you can do it at home, and even put it on an external drive for safekeeping? Just my thoughts for what they’re worth, which is what you paid for them :-) nothing
Carolyn.

My wife and I were forced to move very quickly, leaving most of our stuff in storage. I do not have a computer, an external hard drive, or even a full-size keyboard at the moment, so, rather than lose my 86 GB of music which I’ve collected, and then have to pay some streaming service to listen to music, I thought I’d try backing it up on iCloud. Silly me.

Yes I understand. I’m sorry for  loss of your computer so to speak. But I can tell you that Apple seems to have taken control of most of my music, and it seems to decide what’s available and what’s not, even though most of my music has been obtained through regular and legal sources. It is extremely frustrating. Not to mention the fact that my music seems to always come out it very reduced volume compared to voiceover, and I don’t know how to fix this. Maybe somebody here does? My iTunes music always plays very softly. I’m not sure why this is or how to fix it.

I have the opposite problem; voiceover is very soft and music and other streaming apps except for BARD Mobile are louder. Card Mobile is very soft.

That’s OK, I’ll just stream one of the cable system’s music choice channels through my phone and listen to it that way but their selection sucks and I like my music so hopefully this four-year-old iPhone 6 doesn’t crash.

Anyone wishing to sell a Mac laptop for cheap, do please let me know. That’s a joke. 😁

That is true as far as the Apple Music goes. I have never bought iTunes from Apple. however, we are subscribed to Apple Music family plan. So far I really like it due to the accessibility in finding my songs and playlists.

Have anyone have any experience with other subscription plans for music that is as accessible as Apple Music plan? I tried Amazon Music Unlimited, but their app have a lot of bugs on the IOS platform.

Thanks!
Daniel Hawkins

Hmm, as the problem with it plays softly, if you go to the Settings App and go under i think iTunes, or Music app, you should see a volume slider, thhis is seperate from the Media volume.

Also, carolyn, is all your music backed up somewhere else? Also, do you get your Music through iTunes or some other source? One time I had a huge music back up roblem, so I backed up my music to another harddrive and wiped every trace of music from my computer and iClud settings. then I transfer my music over and everything worked good now.
