Forwarding this from Nuclear Watch South. Whether you agree or
not with expanding the use of nuclear power this Georgia Power
scheme is such a ripoff of the PSC needs to be called out and
held accountable to the rate payers of Georgia.
TOMORROW, December 21, the Georgia Public Service Commission
will vote on no less than the future of the so-called "Nuclear
Renaissance." They will vote whether or not to give Georgia
Power another $1 Billion in guaranteed rate hikes. Georgia Power
needs this, the third set of rate hikes this year, to guarantee
it profits which will in turn qualify it to obtain $8.3 Billion
in U.S. taxpayer funded loans to build two new, risky,
unnecessary nuclear reactors in Georgia.
The Georgia nuke project, Vogtle, is the only U.S. reactor
project which lends any credence to U.S. nuclear industry claims
of a “nuclear renaissance.” And now it comes down to five guys
in Georgia (who have all professed that they are quite
comfortable with nuclear power) who will vote whether to keep
handing public money to privately owned Georgia Power to build
UNNEEDED NUCLEAR REACTORS.
It is up to us in GEORGIA to take a stand! Tell the PSC:” “Do
the Right Thing ~ Stop the Radioactive Rate Hike!”
We have researched and designed an action package for you to
quickly edit, sign and send a thoughtful letter to the five
Commissioners. If you are having a hard time covering things
financially this holiday season -- TELL THE PSC ABOUT IT! PLEASE
TAKE ACTION TODAY. We don't need nuclear reactors!! The reports
"Offshore Wind in the Atlantic" and "Carbon-Free and
Nuclear-Free" show that renewables are happening NOW and we can
become free forever from poisonous power.
Here is the link to your FLASH ACTION PACKAGE filled with
reports and resources links and handy EMAIL ACTION LETTER:
