Hi There,

I'm inspired to do a new thing! Last night, spontaneously, I got the
idea to have a weekly session on acimgather discussing habitual and
compulsive thought and behavior patterns.
Ken Wapnick wrote a pamphlet on overeating based on principles
found in A Course in Miracles, and I have found it to be quite
valuable over the years. When I first read it as a new student of A
Course in Miracles, I got absolutely nothing out of it. Approximately
8 years later I was guided to read it again and it totally spoke to
me, which is probably because by then I had a deeper understanding of
the principles in the Course. I'd also like to add that in the 18 or
so years now that I've been a course student, I have listened to and/
or read probably every person who has taught on the Course. Every
single one of them have been valuable to my understanding in some way.
To me there is no "one teacher" of the course, rather, I honor, and am
in fact grateful, for the way Holy Spirit has guided so many to a
passion for it that they are inspired to share.

The ideas in this pamphlet don't apply just to overeating, but to any
type of addictive thought and behavior habit. Over the years I've
read this pamphlet quite a few times, to the point that almost the
entire book is highlighted in several colors! lol. Nevertheless, the
principles can be difficult to put in consistent practice, especially
in the areas where we feel controlled by some sort of addiction.
Last night I felt guided to ask Dov about a possible open slot
during the day on Tuesdays since that's my day off work. Sure enough,
he had the perfect opening. So in addition to my Tuesday evening
sessions, as of Tuesday, December 29, I will facilitate a one hour
session on this topic of overeating and addiction. Initial guidance
is to introduce a section from Ken's book: Overeating: A Dialogue, and
then facilitate a discussion on how we can practice the principles in
our daily lives and begin to heal in these areas. This has been a
topic of interest to me for quite awhile, and especially in the past
year I have received much valuable guidance on the topic. And so I
will also be sharing from NTI, the Course and the Bible. The sessions
will continue weekly as Spirit guides.

Beginning Tuesday, December 29, the sessions will be held in the
Acimgather room from 12:00 to 1:00 pm California time, PT (1:00 MT,
2:00 CT, 3:00 ET). If you have friends who may be interested in this
material, please feel free to forward this information to them.

If you are unable to attend the sessions, they will be recorded and
posted on my audio blog where they will available to listen to and/or
download at no charge.

I always wondered why Ken Wapnick would call his pamphlet "Overeating"
when the course says "I give everything all and any meaning it has for me"?
This would also apply to food and if eating too much of it or the "wrong"
kind would make a person fat? If everything is belief. It seems like only
the BELIEF that something would (or wouldn't) make one's bodily image a
certain way would be relevant.
But, I suppose he couldn't have made a whole pamphlet or tape out of just
saying that (LOL)
I do remember what I got from the pamphlet which is you can eat ice cream
sundaes with the Holy Spirit (I get a giggle at the visual of that) and
lose weight or not be fat. Or, you can diet/exercise from ego and NOT lose
weight, and get heavier. Or thinner, if one is trying to put on way.
Another quesiton, have you lost weight and have a better body image
yourself, in all the years you have had the pamphlet, or now, since you have
a better understanding of it?
Seems like being an example of putting it into one's life would be a
prerequisite to teaching classes about it.
But you also teach classes on various other subjects, don't you? Like
giving people advice about relationship and other problems?
When your professional training is a chiropractor, which deals with the
body and it's problems and trying to fix them?
I just mean that as discussion or possible discussion and not personal
criticism. Like what criteria does one have to set oneself up as an
"expert" on something?
Actually I could as that about Dov, which is, I think David Fishman?
Does he have any professional background, like a counseller, therapist,
minister, etc?
