If Buddhism is thought to be *about* nothing at all, leaving form
completely out of the equation, it's easy to make up anyone one wants
and call it *what Buddhism is about*. What a waste of a mind that
won't step outside of itself and realize it is emptiness talking shit
and shit smelling up its own emptiness. This here sentence is one

In order to become fully cooked one must arrive at the fire and step
into it, but not for too long (the middle way) if one wants to come
back and share how to traverse the *fireside* without giving up the
body till it's time.

Maybe I would be far less contemptuous of the bunch of you, if
just one single one of you exhibited the least bit of honesty
or integrity by owning up to what the real problem is:

Tang/Evelyn is not the problem around here.

The problem around here is the orchestrated Vajrayani
effort to silence Tang Huyen (largely because of his
"critique" of modern day "Buddhism", and Vajrayana/guruism
in particular); and all of the histrionics, and posturing,
and ploys, and gumbits are all carefully crafted by you
Vajrayanis to serve that end.

Evelyn is not in distress. She has, quite simply, created
her conflict, as a ploy, as only one part of the total,
orchestrated Vajrayani attempt to discredit and silence Tang.

When a person is contemptuous of another it is evidence of the cravings,
conceit and views that all of us worldlings must deal with. It is good
that you are at least cognizant of this issue. Some are not even aware
of the contempt they manifest towards others by reason of their
imaginings.

As for some vast Vajrayani conspiracy to silence tang, I must have
missed the meeting - maybe because I am not Vajrayani and have never
been Vajrayani. As such, perhaps the problem is elsewhere?

Not everyone who disagrees with Tang is a Vajrayaanii. Not everyone
who disagrees with him is trying to silence him. Not everyone who
sometimes finds him lacking in manners disagrees with him. So I would
say your working hypothesis is refuted, my little friend.

In fact I can think of only a single Vajrayana practitioner whose name
I will not mention for fear of the recurrance of the Niagra Falls skit.

I can also not think of a single incident of anyone attempting to
"silence Tang" although many have attempted to try to hold him to
civility and discussion of the dharma, as opposed to interpersonal
attacks.

As for "histrionics, and posturing, and ploys, and gumbits...all

bespeak cravings, conceits and views.

Jigme: <<I can also not think of a single incident of anyone

One that I have often mentioned is "Re: Truth In and Outside of
Buddhism (was Re: Buddhists, Monks, Families & Sex)", 04/15/1999,
Author: Evelyn Ruut:

<<Take a note of the large number of his posts, and the hugeness
of the posts themselves. Can any normal person have a job and a
life and do that?

He is driven by something a bit more than a need for
companionship and conversation with other buddhists here. There
is something more to it, which I am sure will be revealed
sometime or other. (He claims to be writing a book..... if it
reads like his posts, they will sell it next to the Sominex!)

Meanwhile for those of us who actually walk the walk, and do the
practices, we are in the minority now, or reduced to lurkdom at
least. Want to hear a wild opinion? I think that Tang is Gui/
Liguo Sun's latest replacement, and is out to destroy buddhism as
a spiritual practice, and turn it into a mere philosophy.
(Comforting, but it won't get you off the wheel).

I may be incorrect, or correct only in part here, but I think
that others ought to observe what I am suggesting, and see if
there is anything to it. Most of all we need to take our
newsgroups back by not being afraid to speak of practice, and not
being intimidated by the Tangster in spite of his ridicule.>>

Two days before that, in "Re: Animism (was Re: Dionne's claims
about Buddhism)", 04/13/1999, Author: Evelyn Ruut, there was this
exchange:

Henry: <<By the way, Tang reminded me of one person. Liguo (Gui)
Sun.>>

Evelyn: <<Strange you should say that, Henry.... I have
occasionally had that feeling once in a while myself, although I
am pretty certain that he is not. Just sort of reminded me of
him in some ways. The drive, the humorlessness, the zeal. Yes,
similar.>>

Evelyn tried to kick me out of TRB and ARBT a few times. To
balance that picture out, she (and you, Jigme) tried also to kick
Linda out of ARBT and TRB a few times too, within the last four
months or so.

This is a sub-plot in the greater PRC conspiracy to
achieve world domination, and access to all Western
lotteries. The PRC itself is in a secret alliance with the
Shadows, and unaware that they are the unwitting
dupes in the Shadows sinister plot to seize control
of the global production of Lycra. When the earth has
been sucked dry of all possible Lycra, the planet will
then be used by the Shadows as an inter-galactic missile
against their opponents in the final of the Hyper-space
Thirst for Conquest Superbowl around what is left of Skaro.
(brought to you by Coca Cola). Beijing bookies will
give you 20/1 on the Daleks, but you'll be lucky to
get evens against the Shadows.

The Tibetan arm of the plot is of course, master-minded
by Evelyn, who is really a semi-android called Pfutlnshh,
and has an IQ of 17,108, almost as high as DT's. You
must agree Tang, no-one deserves the Best Actress
Award more than she does.

All of this just goes to show how very important you
are dear, and if you had not ceased mentating, you could
feel very proud. Now that everything is out in the open,
do you think you could stop sending these repetetive
'he said, she said' posts full of old quotes and re-quotes,
then maybe Evelyn and Jigme would do the same,
and maybe I won't have a nervous breakdown after all?

Nah! Let 'em keep at it, I would much rather watch you have your breakdown
"live" on the NG. At least something good will have come of their continuing
soap opera. Spin-offs are inevitable but once in a while they can be

Jan: <<Ah Tang!

The bitter irony in your 'refreshing whitewash'.

You are of course refering to the great cover-up. Very well.

transplants, and false-memory implants so that he can play the

Ah, Jan, how could I make you suffer? The Coyote would, but you
know how he is. I definitely am not of the same ilk. I am a true
gentleman.

Now that everything is out in the open, Jan, I promise not to
mention Evelyn (yes, just one last time, before my promise takes
effect: I agree with you that no-one deserves the Best Actress
Award more than she does), except when I discuss her in relation
to matters of doctrine and practice and behaviour related
thereto.

That's a big loophole, I concede, but I can't do my job of
delimiting what the Law (dharma) is unless I also set it off from
what it is not (a-dharma). Theravad, TC Nguyen, Evelyn and
assorted infidels (Don James, etc.) are soooo useful for that
purpose, because they fit right in, ready made.

Hi Linda

I hate to be a party pooper, but my shrink reckons
I am nearly cured. (the nearest i get to sounding
like Bacon -yuk) I like to give good entertainment value
so maybe i can stage a breakdown when i have more
time. i have to get to grips with some serious
job applications in the next few days, maybe while
I'm gone you could get Tang to blow up or get
Sphere to grow corners or something. You could
do it Linda. <g>

My shrink thought I was "not" cured but I found out my shrink was sicker than I

If you're happy and you know it, why look for misery where there ain't any?

Wow, now that's an idea. I like it, it has a devious ring to it. I take it you
have personal experience so you can do a reasonably good impression of
ballistic? Something nuclear would be nice. Or volcanic, with a lot of hot
air and gas.

>i have to get to grips with some serious job applications in the next few

Nah, Tang is too well controlled. Or controling, I'm not sure which. Every so
often he gets a bit flakey, but he straightens himself up too quick to do
anything interesting with it.

>or get Sphere to grow corners or something.<

Hmmm....I've read some of sphere's posts, for some reason they don't catch
me....mebby the edges are a bit too smooth.

>You could do it Linda. <g> <

I prolly could but I don't piss people off on purpose, they just get pissed
because I'm being me and they're being them. So I figure I'm conserving energy
(goes along with recycling) by not exerting myself unnecessarily.

Are you gonna get a "real " job? Gad, I hvaen't had one of them in years.
Don't think I want one, either. Been there, done that, movin on...

At my first real job in Chicago, there was a senior member of the
company that loved to dance. At formal affairs, he would dance for an
hour or more. All of us youngsters were amazed, since we were winded
and couldn't believe he was in good enough shape to dance longer than
us. Then we started watching closely and noticed he never really moved
more than 6-12 inches. But what movement he did do was to get his
partner to twirl or spin or some other dramatic movement, giving the
impression that he was really moving too if you were not paying
attention.

So, Linda, I bow to your dancing ability.

Nah, that's not the way she twirls or spins people around. That
would take too much energy. What she does is to cause them to go
volcanic, with a lot of hot air and gas, with a barest minimum of
prodding from her. That's how she figures she's conserving energy
(goes along with recycling) by not exerting herself
unnecessarily (which is not to say that she has little energy,
quite on the contrary).

What is amazing is how eager people are to oblige her.
