hi,

i've been a bahai for 10 years and have not been one since 4 years

besides becoming a bahai, the best decision i ever made was not to be one
anymore

only yesterday i have found out about the things spoken of here and on
various sites: the not so nice sides of the bahai community

it has been upsetting and exciting at the same time to find out, that
certain things aren't going all that well

upsetting, because i had never really allowed myself to see thing in a
different light (some unplessentnesses that occured and never bothered me at
the time; you just accepted things)

exciting, because i feel like a whole new world to explore has been opened
to me

i wonder if anyone can tell me about (mis)events that took place in europe
or rather in holland

Greetings, Judith.
I have some knowledge of Holland, though possibly much less than you.
In any case what I know about Baha'i affairs connected with that country is
something I keep confidential, unless and until others make it public. A
lot of Baha'i stuff is kept confidential even by those of us portrayed as
being unsympathetic to Baha'i. Of course, those seeking the enhancement of
Baha'i principles are not really unsympathetic to Baha'i.
Thrice Three Blessings, Michael

Dear Judith,

Believe me, it has. There are perspectives on the Baha'i Faith that you
never dreamed of out here, not to mention translations of the Writings
you've never seen. You might enjoy the email forum "Talisman", which has
stimulating conversation from a liberal Baha'i perspective.

All I've ever heard about the community in Holland is that they tend to be
more liberal than what you find in the U.S. I haven't heard of any trouble
in that community.

Love, Karen

Hi Judith,

Welcome to TRB! Most especially are you welcome as fellow citizen of
the European Union seeing as I come from Northern Ireland and you from
Holland.

I know little of the Bahai community outside Northern Ireland other
than what I have seen on the Internet but that certainly persuades me
that the problems are the same wherever one looks - a shrinking
community and a foolish administrative order that presides over this
and sells it as growth.

To arrive online and find dear old Fred's site is exciting - it is a
treasure trove of information on many of the problems in the Bahai
community. I would heartily agree with Karen that you visit Talisman
and perhaps also her own Unenrolled Bahai group also on Yahoo, which
she modestly omitted to mention.

Do feel free to share your own experiences of your time in the Bahai
community. You will find certain people will automatically disagree
with you - not that they know anything about the Dutch Bahai community
but simply because if it's Bahai, it's the best and only a fool could
not see that.

Yes, and there are people here who are happy to talk about these things.

See, we have our jokes.
