Even Rob Schneider is half Filipino. In fact, his mother (a Filipina)
played an extra role in his movie "Deuce Bigolow Male Gigolo," in the
scene where Rob Schneider is scheduled to go to a date at a
Filipino-American restaurant. Rob's character thought that the old
lady (Rob Schneider's mother in real life) who's waving at him was his
date. But instead his date was his soon to be (physically impaired
but beautiful) girlfriend. They even ordered a raspberry bibingka.
(Bibingka is a traditional Filipino food or South east asian food)
Dean Devlin the co-producer and co-creator of the movies "Stargate,
Independence Day (Starred by Will Smith), and Godzilla" etc is a
Filipino-American.
In the popular Disney channel TV series "Lizzie Maguire," a
Filipino-American child actress plays Lizzie Maguire's best friend.
Well, even though Lea Salonga grew up in the Philippines, she's doing
just fine in the States.
Whilce Portacio one of the top 3 American comic book illustrators in
the 1990's, coz of revolutionizing the American comic book drawing
style is also a Filipino. Especially with the X-Men comic book
titles. Millions of American comic book fans in the US and around the
world worship him.
The Filipino-Americans mentioned above are examples of the high
success rate of the second generation Filipino-American's integration
to American society.
In Europe, Billy Crawford a pop teen idol in Western Europe is half
Filipino. One of the members of the singing band Sugababe is a
Filipina. Her name is "Mutya." Filipinos are successful in
integrating to Western culture.
There are only about 3 million Filipinos in the States (including the
illegals) very small compared to the White population majority, and
yet the Filipino's positive contributions to America are very
plentiful. Considering the achievements and contributions of the
second generation Filipino-Americans.
But sadly of course, there was also the half Filipino Andrew Cunanan
who murdered Vianni Versace. But I'm glad that mostly,
Filipino-Americans (specially the second geners) have achieved and
contributed great positive things to America. Again, Filipinos are
only numbering 3 million in the States (including the illegals). But
even though the Filipino-American's population is proportionally small
(only 3 million) compared proportionally to the greater White majority
in America, I say, Filipinos have proportionally equaled the positive
achievements and contributions of the greater White majority since
America was born.
First generation Filipino immigrants become essential blue collar
workers in America. And yet the children of these Filipino
immigrants, the second geners grow up to become competitive US
corporate elites. There are Filipino-American second geners not only
serving in the military as generals and colonels, but also in
corporate America. Filipino-Americans also own some of the top 500 US
companies. There are Filipino-American astronauts. Filipino-American
State governor, mayors, and other US political positions. First class
artists, painters, and international fashion designers, a Filipino
invented the Karaoke.
Not bad for a minority only numbering 3 million.
So if ever the Philippines apply to become a US state. Americans
don't have to worry about anything. Some people fear that when the
Philippines becomes the 51st US state, that it will end up as a
welfare state. But again don't worry, remember, there are only 3
million Filipinos in the States and yet they have positively
contributed many things to America. If you compare them
proportionally to the White majority population, they are very much
involved in the US military, corporate America, Academia, Hollywood,
News media, blue collar jobs, etc.
If the Philippines become the 51st state, there's no problem.
Majority of Filipinos will positively contribute to America just as
the 3 million Filipino-Americans are contributing in the States. Most
Filipinos are already somewhat Americanized. Though I admit the
Muslim minority at the southern Philippines are culturally separated
from the Filipino majority. Their Muslim countrymen at the south have
a more warrior like Muslim culture similar to the middle east. But
once the electorate system is implemented in the Philippines, the
politicians will at last develop the Muslim areas, no need for our
Muslim countrymen to whine and rebel.
If the Philippines will not apply for US statehood then the other
option is to install the Jury system, Electorate system, etc in the
Philippines. I hope that someday there will be someone or
organizations qualified or experts in the jury system that will help
promote those systems in the Philippines.
Filipinos in the Philippines just need to have the same leverage as
the 3 Million Filipinos in America have, then the Filipinos in the
Philippines too will succeed and have a prosperous life and achieve
and contribute many great things as the 3 million Filipinos in America
are able to do and have.
Again, the Philippines was doing just fine during the early decades of
independence coz the Asian triad have not yet entered the Philippines.
Corruption is not yet as blown up as it is now. The reason the
Philippines is a screwed up country today is coz it has no Jury System
and it has no Electorate System. Imagine, if the US has no Jury
System, it too will end up bloated with corruption and influence
peddling. And coz the Philippines has no Electorate voting system,
some provinces in the Philippines are neglected by the politicians.
Philippine politicians only meet the needs of areas with high voter
population. Hence, Filipinos in the provinces joined the communist
rebellion movement during the cold war era. Some joined the communist
movement to attain justice that they were deprived of coz the
Philippines has no jury system. Rich and well connected people can
easily bribe and intimidate a single judge. Refugees from those
provinces fled from the cross fire between the Philippine military and
Communist rebels. That's why there are squatters in Manila.
Corruption is not the cause of poverty during the early decades of
independence but coz of the effects of the communist insurgency. And
some rich and influential Filipinos have successfully land grabbed the
ancestral properties of Filipinos coz the Philippines has no Jury
System. That's one of the reasons some Filipinos joined the communist
rebel movement coz of those injustices. But if the Philippines
already has a Jury System, then those Filipinos have no need to join
the communist movement in the first place. There will be no communist
movement in the first place.

The 2000 US Census reports that there are 1,850,314 Filipinos in America constituting 0.7 of the
total 2000 US population of 281,421,906.
I hate minority fanatics... they are increasingly obnoxious.

Yes, but there's a speculation there might be more than the official
figures. So, by doubling the official figures, I hope to make a safe
estimation.
Well, we can't blame the millions and millions of fanatics around the
world. Coz Rob Schneider is very funny like in his recent movie "The
Hot Chick." And fanatics around the world also love hot chicks like,
Tia Carere, Phoebe Kates, and the girl band Sugababes. And Lou
Diamond Philips acted pretty well in movies like, "LaBamba" and "Young
Guns," etc. And there's also the American comic book fanatics who
love great art and stories. So, no wonder these people have fans.
Whether minority or majority, regardless of race, gender, age,
religion, ideology, sexual preference, etc, I wish them all success
and prosperity.

Recommend me a Filipino shrink or a Filipino-American shrink?
Population proportionality.
And some deliberately downgrade their qualifications in their
application forms, coz the only jobs offered to Filipino immigrants
are low rank jobs. Can't get the job if you're over qualified.
Hence, many are still just first generation immigrant opportunity
start-ups. They still look like short 3rd world people. :-) Right
now recruitment agencies in the Philippines are only offering teacher,
nurse, and caregiver jobs in the States. So even Filipino PhDs are
forced to humble themselves coz they'll earn 10 times more as a
caregiver in America than in their PhD salaries in the Philippines.
If there were PhD jobs offered, then Filipinos would apply there too
in lightning speed.
And if you're lucky to work in an American company based in the
Philippines, once your American boss knows you well, then you're
lucky, he will recommend you to work in the States, coz he knows you.
That's how some Filipinos in the States got their high rank jobs in
America. (But that doesn't mean they're unqualified for the job) The
bottom line is, you not only need talent and skills but also as
importantly is to have connections.
And a lot are still hiding from the INS, can't really shine yet.
<shrugs> <embarrassed> And some of these first generation immigrants
are still not really cosmopolitan people even when they're still in
the Philippines. Some have just came from undeveloped communities in
the Philippines. They are very short people. It is around the gen y
generation of second generation Filipino-Americans who I notice
behaving like regular confident Americans. These generation of
Filipino-Americans are the ones who are almost just as tall and as big
right now as regular Americans. But their parents still kinda look
like 3rd world people, the first generation immigrants.
And of course the successful Filipino-Americans whose families had the
opportunity to settle in the States many years ago or had a head start
many years ago, do serve as inspiration for the Filipinos immigrating
to the States.
But don't forget, there are Filipino-American astronauts, Shrinks,
Corporate, top 500 US companies, etc etc, that I already mentioned.
It may be difficult for me to research those Filipino-Americans not
working in the US entertainment industry, but they're there. You may
do your own research on them. These are people who had an opportunity
to settle in the States or had a head start many years ago. And
again, they do serve as inspiration for the Filipinos immigrating to
the States.

In a pure romantic context or in a non-malicious true love context, I
say, indeed, a lot of guys in love agree with you.
A significant percentage of those Filipino nurses working in North
America, Western Europe, and Australia, were already practicing as
Medical Doctors in the Philippines. But they have chosen to demote
themselves to work as nurses in the US coz nurse salaries in America
are 10 times more than the M.D. salaries in the Philippines. And
although they already have M.D. degrees and were already professional
doctors in the Philippines, obviously, they must still enroll in
nursing schools to meet the requirements of the recruitment agencies
in the Philippines. But of course, the nursing schools and the
recruitment agencies themselves have no idea that their student nurses
or their nurse recruits already have M.D. degrees and have already
worked as medical doctors in the Philippines. But I guess, maybe even
the nursing schools and the recruitment agencies, just turn their
heads to the other way. Don't ask don't tell.
