One person CAN make a difference, and one person DID. A credit to our
country & to our military, Spc. Joseph Darby, who doesn't just wear the
WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) emblem, but he lives by it. He's the lone
whistle blower who exposed the prison abuses in Abu Ghraib, and with
that, altered the course of history, for the better.
If the pictures of the abuse of Iraqi prisoners had not been published
by the media, the American public would have never believed the repeated
allegations from the International Red Cross during the past several
months, and the U.S. military would have just continued their
stonewalling and denying the fact.
Only after those pictures were released did the Bush administration
apologize for violating the Geneva Conventions as he has been doing over
the last 3 years. But his apologies are insincere and self serving,
because he still continues to violate the rights of other prisoners, and
those being detained in Guantanam Bay, Cuba.
Resident Bush has a lot of nerves to threaten the invasion of other
countries that do not embrace our "ideals", when Bush himself does not
embrace American ideals. What exactly is Bush trying to spread around
the world?!
We've seen this type of criminal behavior before, in Rwanda, Yugoslavia,
Germany and the Soviet Union. Bush, who has admitted that he does not
like to read, is merely repeating history, in the worst possible way.
If he would ever read something, anything, about these historical
tragedies then he would know not to repeat them, but he is repeating
them. For the rest of us who do know how to read, we know what an
absolute disaster in the making the Bush Residency is, and we should
vote accordingly on November 2nd.
