For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and
self-control.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be
frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with
you wherever you go.”
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not
fear; what can man do to me?”
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For
fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been
perfected in love.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will
not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Of David. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I
fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be
afraid?
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world
gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither
let them be afraid.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my
righteous right hand.
For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into
fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by
whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free
in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done
what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his
own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned
sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the
law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh
but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the
flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who
live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the
Spirit. ...
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all
my fears.
A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He
makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still
waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of
righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are
with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a
table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head
with oil; my cup overflows. ...
Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord!
But I will deliver you on that day, declares the Lord, and you
shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are
afraid. For I will surely save you, and you shall not fall by the
sword, but you shall have your life as a prize of war, because
you have put your trust in me, declares the Lord.’”
But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who
formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have
called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the
waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall
not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be
burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;
against such things there is no law.
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn
away from the snares of death.
Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you
are of more value than many sparrows.
To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A
Song. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in
trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though
its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its
swelling. Selah There is a river whose streams make glad the city
of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst
of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning
dawns. ...
That they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord, are
the Most High over all the earth.
I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the
land of the living!
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and
the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I
saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from
God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a
loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of
God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his
people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will
wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more,
neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore,
for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on
the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he
said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and
true.” ...
He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and
they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he
commands even winds and water, and they obey him?”
And so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were
partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand
against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against
flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the
spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take
up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in
the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand
therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put
on the breastplate of righteousness, ...
In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what
I shall give you.”
His disciples said, “Ah, now you are speaking plainly and not
using figurative speech! Now we know that you know all things and
do not need anyone to question you; this is why we believe that
you came from God.” Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?
Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be
scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I
am not alone, for the Father is with me. I have said these things
to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have
tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the
knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has
killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear
him!
A Song of Ascents. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where
does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven
and earth.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the
shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my
fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from
the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will
cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find
refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not
fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, ...
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what
you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what
you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more
than clothing?
Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him and directed him, “You
must not take a wife from the Canaanite women. Arise, go to
Paddan-aram to the house of Bethuel your mother's father, and
take as your wife from there one of the daughters of Laban your
mother's brother. God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful
and multiply you, that you may become a company of peoples. May
he give the blessing of Abraham to you and to your offspring with
you, that you may take possession of the land of your sojournings
that God gave to Abraham!” Thus Isaac sent Jacob away. And he
went to Paddan-aram, to Laban, the son of Bethuel the Aramean,
the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother. ...
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
