What command experience does Palin have as head of the Alaska National
Guard?

The Alaska governor has ***no command role**** with National Guard troops
engaged in combat operations or with the 49th Missile Defense Battalion,
which is stationed in Alaska. She does command the National Guard when it
comes to natural disasters and homeland security. These issues are handled
by a member of her cabinet, Maj. Gen. Craig, the adjutant general for
Alaska, who also handles veterans' affairs. Palin has called up the guard
only once, in 2007, to fight wildfires. They were on standby for a 2007
whaling conference during which they expected protesters but were never
summoned.

And one of the first things she did after becoming Governor is go to
Iraq and visit those Nation Guard troop from Alaska. Hell, Osama Obama
wouldn't even go visit wounded soldiers when he went to make his I am
the savor speech to a bunch of Germans.

She also called up the Guard to help during hurricane Gustav.

The National Guard operates under the Governor of each state but can
only be used for domestic disasters and emergencies. If the National
Guard is used against or in other nations, then they are under the
Federal Government's control.

The Republicans' claim that Palin has foreign policy experience is
unfounded and untrue. They claim that because Palin heads the Alaskan
National Guard and that the Alaskan National Guard is deployed
overseas, thus Palin has foreign policy experience. The problem with
that contention is that once the Alaskan National Guard is deployed
overseas, she is no longer in charge of that group.

I don't think anyone claimed that was foreign policy experience. They said
she was commander-in-chief of the National Guard, which is, of course, true.

It is near impossible for any mayor or govenor to have foreign policy
experience, as they are domestic officials.

Bill Clinton had no foreign policy experience. Barack Hussein Obama has no
foreign policy experience. In fact, Obama has no executive experience at
all, zero.
