#Louisiana Church Gunman Kills Four

[stolen article snipped]

Good thing that guy only had a gun...

Here's a guy who used a hammer and killed FIVE people.

Olney Illinois:

A 17-year-old boy who killed his half -brother and four
others was convicted of murder friday.

Christopher Churchill admitted that he killed his half-brother,
his brother's girlfriend and her three children to ``relieve
stress.''

He attacked all five with a hammer, watched some
TV, then had sex with 12 year old girl as she lay
on the floor, dying. He was arrested six days later.

Time to ban all those woodworking tools.....

Rory

Basically, the guy was a nut. Did you stop and think that maybe if someone
else was wrmed, the criminal would have been permanently stopped after the
first shooting, and the death toll would have been three less(murderers do
not count in the death toll because they deserve it).

Then why do gun shows ban concealed weapons? Why can't I, a
law abiding citizen, bring in an Uzi, with extra clips?

The Mini 14. You probably couldn't get it pointed even close to
the right direction and then have trouble figuring out how to operate
it. It has more that one moving part, you know.

Yeh, grunt, ugh, we should follow Utah's example and prohibit any ban on
guns even in schools and churches.

Utah's gun extremists almost cost Salt Lake City the 2002 Olympics when they
first convinced the Republican/Mormon dominated legislature to refuse the
International Olympic Committee the freedom to ban guns at Olympic sites.
Cooler heads prevailed, --Local organizers realized the IOC would have moved
to the games taking $100s of million in sponsorships with them-- and a
special ban on guns was allowed but only for Olympic sites in 2002.

Can you imagien the bloody confusion at the Winter Olympics with both armed
terrorist and untrained, armed, self-appointed vigilantes out to get 'em?
It'd be a real bang up show that would have made tragedy in Munich in '68
look like a fire drill in comparison.

By the way isn't Louisiana the state where some yahoo shot a Japanese
exchange student who dared to trick ot terat at his house, and got off
without doing any time?

Calm down Juan,

The proper term is toilet paper. On the other hand, at least you
learned a new word!

But to answer your question...

I think you should use the Mini-14. Let me teach you how. I'll make it
simple.

First pick up the rifle. Check to make sure you have it loaded. (Just
pull that little knob on the side back until you see the bullet go into
the barrel. You DO remember how to pull the little knob don't you? Oh
yeah, I forgot, you're good at that part!)

Now hold it out in front of you. Make sure the wooden end is AWAY from
you.

Now, hold it up to your face. Look down the barrel. Inside the little
hole part. Can you see it? Close one eye and look close. Can you see it
now?

Good!

Now put your thumb on the trigger. Pull that trigger really smoothly.
Don't forget to look close!

Damn!! I was afraid of that! OK, pay attention and try it again real
slowly this time....

Greetings, oh trolliferous one. Munich had the games in 1972.
Keep on trolling.

Other than the fact the student wasn't trick or treating in
any sense of the phrase, yes, Louisiana is where Mr. Peairs shot and
killed an individual who'd failed to leave his property when ordered
to, advanced menacingly towards Mr. Peairs in the dark and gestured
aggressively and suddenly towards Mr. Peairs with a metallic object
he'd been concealing in his hand.
Mr. Peairs, fearing for his life, shot young Hattori-san and
most assuredly did Hattori-san die from the wound. Hattori was stupid.
Peairs was perfectly legal in his actions. Bad situation but perfectly
legal.
I'll wait patiently for you to follow on in the implications
towards Louisiana and see if you can actually demonstrate that you're
a truly competent bigot or whether you'll forever remain among the
rank amateurs.

Yup, sure did. Every single churchgoer was prohibited, by LA's gun
laws (LA's carry laws have a "place of worship" exclusion the gun-

them to church that day.

They were fish in a barrel, thanks to the gunphobes and the law.

Stockton, CA (Stockton Record, 7/3/98)

Brent Berkebile Jr., 21, was in for a rude suprise when he opened his
front door late last evening. He came face-to-face with an armed man
who demanded money.

While Berkebile complied, his girlfriend ran out of the house to summon
help at the nearby house of his father, Brent Berkebile, Sr., who
returned armed with a shotgun. Berkebile Sr., fired at the bandit as he
attempted to escape from the sons residence. Police later found the man
in the bushes, alive, but with a gunshot injury to the shoulder.

"It looks like he did what he had to do, and no more," said a police
spokesman of the elder Berkebile.

I said it was perfectly legal. By that definition, it was
legally justified.
Do I personally think it was tactically justified? No. It was
incredibly bad tactics on Peairs' part and had Hattori actually been
an armed attacker, it's quite likely that Hattori would have gotten at
least the first, if not all, of the shots off. Peairs was incredibly
stupid and unbelievably lucky.
Do I think it was necessary? No. This falls back to his lack
of even a modicum of tactical sense.
Regardless, the fact remains, he was taken before the Grand
Jury and they ruled that he acted in full compliance with the law.
So, in answer, no it wasn't necessary. Justification is purely
subjective so none of us here can accurately speak to it. However, the
Grand Jury ruled that his justification for the shooting was in
accordance with law. By strict legal definition, it was justified
because the citizens of Louisiana said it was.

I just love the way you little asswipes have of wanting to
kill anyone who disagrees. Did your daddy beat you or fuck you?

If you look at the psychological profile of those who are
the so called rabid gun owners. Almost to a man (it is a
male phenomenon) they were physically and/or sexually
abused as children. At home, meekness meant survival. This
meekness carries over into the day at school and is picked
up on by fellow students. So we have the poor guy being
abused at home and bullied at school. To him, a gun is the
great equalizer. His manhood. He no longer has to be afraid
of being pushed around or abused, his fears are abated by
his gun.

Unfortunately, most are not content with being equal, they
in turn become the bully. Their gun did not make them equal,
but superior. This is where the cycle begins. They have a
strong tendancy to raise their children n exactly the same
manner they so despised. And the beat goes on.

A college education seems to be the one thing that may break
the cycle, however the segment of the population where this
is prominent is also the segment least likey to achieve higher
education.

Gosh, this sounds like a threat. But I'm not too worried...I
don't think you could figure out how to use either weapon.

Well, we've seen from the news that a killer armed with a
hammer was capable of murdering FIVE unarmed people.

I am not unarmed. Therefore, if you show up on my property
with either a hammer or a Mini 14, I'll fertilize my flower garden

'Scuse me? What laws? The organizers of the show are generally the
ones to set the rules and probably ban concealed weapons (in those
places where CCW is legal in the first place) either due to previous
complaints, or because their insurance companies demand it.

Fortunately or otherwise, insurance company lawyers are the ones in
"loose" CCW areas that are pushing the "No Concealed Firearms Allowed on
These Premises" signs we all hate to see so much. It takes a ballsy CEO
to counter these guys (such as J.C. Penney's believe it or not) and act
on the idea that store customers can be safer with private concealed
weapons around that aren't only in the crooks' pockets.

I worked for Brinks for awhile carrying money. They are big enough to
self-insure (which has cost them a bunch a time or two...) so they only
have to listen to company lawyers. Brinks men are not allowed to carry
their own pistols. They may only carry what they're issued. That way,
nobody can sue the company for getting shot with too big a gun, I
guess. Makes sense that the men are safer with a uniform inspection and
maintenance setup too, doesn't it?

I drove for a day with a new guy and after work we decided to fire a few
rounds in the company range downstairs, using our service weapons. He
took the range first and immediately came up with two misfires. When we
opened the cylinder, we found that the gun was so out-of-time that the
firing pin was hitting all the way over on the left edge of the primer.
When the guy realized that he'd been out all day toting several million
dollars worth of bills in clear plastic bags with a gun that wouldn't
shoot, he turned several shades lighter than his normal hue. Worse,
there was no way to tell how long the piece had been in that kind of
shape, and it had almost certainly been carried daily by other
messengers for who knew how long!

A few months after that (and several complaints later) the branch
replaced all the service revolvers with brand new Ruger SP-100's.

Things you won't EVER see a Liberal do:
==============================================
Make public schools better.
Do something about people who cannot afford health care.
Do something to reduce racism.
Investigate Democrats too.
Realize that individual rights are more important than anything.
Realize that those millionaires pay more taxes then anybody.
Don't do anything about those hungry children in America.
Do more to keep criminals in jail, and guns in the publics hands
for protection.
Keep their children informed and honest.
Question who is more of a liar or goofy, President Clinton or
Rosanne Barr.
Question why criminals like President Clinton are allowed to stay
in office.
Question why that Monica Lewinsky is one of our best workers.
Tell women they should have the right to defend them selves.
Tell everybody they believe in a bible and, ACTUALLY practice
what it preaches.
Know the name for the "horsey" when playing chess.

You are NOT "Hispanic." You are not even toilet trained yet.
So, please apologize to the fine people that are of Spanish,
Hispanic, Mexican, Portuguese, Cuban, and etc..desent. You do
NOT speak for them,. or any other intelligent life form.

I fear no race, creed, or whatever. Because as we all know,
nobody is superior to the next race, creed, or whatever.
(Keep in mind though, that a turnip is SUPERIOR to you,

But, thanks for sharing your racist views, tiny minded one.

Actually, dumbshit, I'd prefer you use a mini-14 because I have yet to find
one with decent accuracy. You'd spray rounds all over the place trying to hit
me, while I'd put one shot out at 300 yds and drop you in your tracks.

#You guys are not armed because you are brave, you have your
#guns because you are afraid.

Actually, having a gun makes it less likely I'll have to kill someone in
a self-defense scenario. Most folks will believe you and cease and desist
when facing a .45, where they'd continue the attack if you just issued
a verbal warning, which would mean I'd have to rely on hand to hand tactics.
And I'm a bit rusty, so I'd probably have to rely on moves I KNOW work.
Unfortunately, those moves have a high mortality rate.

#What a stupid statement. Were you born with brain damage or did it

Just because you and your dad had an abnormal relationship does not mean
the rest of us have that personal issue to deal with. Projecting your
problems on others is a common pyschological problem, I suggest you talk
to your therapist about it during your next session.

To prevent accidents, not to stop crazy people intent on mass murder.
Anybody crazy enough to contemplate such an act wouldn't be stopped by
the rules -- Though he'd have to be terminally stupid as well to try it
in such a venue, many of the dealers do carry concealed, not to mention
the on- and off-duty police officers usually found there. It's
obviously much safer to commit such acts in schools and chrches, where
the laws insure a good supply of disarmed victims who can't fight back.

Aside: Your comment reminds me of the time a candidate for president
(Buchanan? I can't remember which) made a campaign stop at a gun show.
Some supporters there carried signs showing their support, but the
secret service took them away from them, because their rules said nobody
could be close to a candidate holding one, they might use the sticks as
clubs instead of to hold up the signs. So here was the candidate,
surrounded by hundreds of people with rifles, pistols, shotguns, knives,
etc., but the SS was "protecting" him by taking away the signs. At
least everyone there at the time recognized the ridiculousness of the
situation.

Most likely, the organizers of the gun show don't want the liability
concerns if there is an accidental discharge (regardless if someone is hurt

Yep. Amazing how many shooting stools, jackets, sweatshirts, etc have
military insignia or designations on them at matches. And that's just for
the civilian shooters, then we have the guys who come up from Benning to
shoot. Of course, we also have the former coach for the Army Marksmanship
Training Unit shooting with us :-) He's even encouraged us to start
holding practice NTIT/rattle-battle sessions after our regular monthly
matches :-) I didn't realize it was going on, or would have taken more ammo
this past weekend. Have to take more next time, isn't often you find an
excuse to dump two magazines downrange in under a minute AND have someone
score your target, at 600 yds :)

Looking at the current awards in liability cases, why take the chance. I
believe the light aircraft industry found this out, to their detriment. The
cost of a light aircraft is estimated to be up to 60% higher just for
liability insurance. I don't think you'd like the hike in admission to
cover the possibility of a multi-million dollar settlement or award.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't have to worry about this, but then, in a
perfect world lawyers would be highly respected, not likened to sharks.

Okay now, so your argument is that if we remove the weapons
from lamebrained but honest folk our liability costs would
go down? Sounds good to me. If there's a liability factor
inside a gun show, it doesn't go to zero outside the show.
After all, more innocent people die outside a gun show than
inside. So you advocate disarming people in order to reduce
potential liabilities. Whatever works. I advocate larger
jury awards to accelerate the process.
