"Republicans Rebuff Catholic Nuns on the Bus
Posted on July 3, 2012 by politicol

The Nuns on the Bus have traveled to nine states to visit the
offices of Speaker Boehner, Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor on their nine
state tour.

The tour was to bring light to the hardships of many millions who
are living in poverty in America.

The nation that was once the most powerful in the world is
struggling under job losses, unemployment figures are still too high
and republicans have not passed one job bill of their own
initiative.

These men, as leaders of the republican party live very well, they
are paid very high salaries, have a Cadillac healthcare plan paid
for by the taxpayers, a lifetime rich pension to live on, all
benefits, dental, medical, free transportation, free meals, free car
services and all paid hotel and travel expenses. They are not
hurting.

Boehner, Cantor and Ryan didn’t have the guts to speak to the
catholic nuns who came and were assured a meeting with their
government representatives. These cowards ducked out on their
meetings and appointed times to meet with the nuns. These are not
men, they are cowardly lowlifes who prefer to suck on the government
benefits, the corruption they themselves enjoy have turned on
American families. Their christian values leave a lot to be desired,
because they’ve lost their moral compass.

These men could change the hostile environment in government, they
can pass bills that can stimulate the economy, except for their
party politics. We all know the goal of the republican party, to cut
social programs, social security, medicare, medicaid, and it is the
same in every election year. This year under the Ryan Budget, as it
is called, will destroy the middle class completely. Blow it out of
the water, and then some.

The budget aims to harm the poor, the elderly, and those who are too
sick to work, the disabled. This includes Iraqi war veterans who are
now returning to a country they do not recognize anymore.

The catholic nuns have been shut out every step of the way, on their
journey to persuade republicans who are in denial of how bad the
poverty really is, and to stop using political games on people’s
lives.

Read More on their website: Nuns on the bus of how the Ryan Budget
would harm all the states listed on their tour. Here is an excerpt:

The Ryan Budget
As Catholic Sisters, we must speak out against the current House
Republican budget, authored by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI). We do so
because it harms people who are already suffering.

The Ryan Budget would:

¦Raise taxes on 18 million hardworking low-income families while
cutting taxes for millionaires and big corporations.
¦Push the families of 2 million children into poverty.
¦Kick 8 million people off food stamps and 30 million off health
care. NETWORK’s Executive Director, Sister Simone Campbell, said in
a recent media interview that Catholic Sisters “know the real-life
struggles of real-life Americans.” It is this knowledge that
impelled us to organize this bus trip. When the federal government
cuts funding to programs that serve people in poverty, we see the
effects in our daily work. Simply put, real people suffer. That is
immoral.
