Don't believe that. Soldiers can have *private* weapons in base
housing as long as registered properly.

There are three jurisdictions involved. Local PD, FBI and Military.
One report is she is a local PD officer and trained first responder.
She was an on duty Department of the Army Civilian Police officer,
responding with her partner to the call. The DACP officers are in the
process of replacing the Military Police for base law enforcement
duties, so the MP's can be assigned overseas. The MP Corps is the force
of choice for most of the duties in Iraq. The MP's on patrol also would
have had their pistols loaded.
Other than the MP's, soldiers on base are not even issued firearms
unless called for by that day's training schedule.

All this has already been released to the news. You're lying
> All this has already been released to the news. You're lying
Not necessarily. Some (many?) people do not listen to the "news" as
promulgated by the media, preferring instead to get their unfiltered and
unbiased information from blogs and newsgroups.
For example, here we have a radicalized Muslim, killing American soldiers as
a suicide-shooter, and not a single news organization is calling this a
"terrorist act," you've got to be skeptical of the news media.
Except for the attacker she was the only one there with a gun.
The men gave up their guns to live in a government Gun-Free Zone.

No they can't. ALL arms are kept in armories if you live on post.
It hasn't been proven yet. Why would they start a lie. Remember..the
news media are all liberals and it's the conservatives who love to
lie.
CNN raised the question on several levels the only response was from Gen
Honre (spl) who opined that there was insufficient information to make even
a preliminary determination.
:
I think this may depend on the post. When I was at Ft. Leavenworth, I
lived in base housing and kept my privately owned weapons at home. At
the other bases, I either lived off base or I lived in the barracks and
the weapons were kept in the arms room.
From what my son tells me, Ft. Sam Houston (where he is stationed now)
has the same type of policy now. People in housing register but keep
their weapons, people in the barracks must check them in and out.
Steve Rothstein
What has not been proven yet? There is conclusive proof that he was a
Muslim, having been one all his life. His internet postings show his
radicalization. He conclusively was the shooter and killed US Soldiers.
So, what are you going to say, that this was not an act of terrorism? I
guess you work for the FBI who also made that claim almost as soon as
the shooting occurred, even when they thought they had three shooters in
a coordinated attack.

Check with the Ft Hood Public Information Office. Do you understand
how many families live on a base that size? Yes they can have guns,
privately owned!
Armories are for military weapons and ammo. *Even guest tenants on the
base with multiple jurisdictions *may* have a separate Armory...

Fort Sam is an open post, no MPs at the gate. That's a different kind
of security. Fort Hood is closed. ALL weapons are kept in the
armories.

Wrong. I was the Asst Armorer in our unit. When someone was

store it in the post armory. They could get it out when ever they

No, you stupid fucking ignorant twit. That's why it's never happened

The average soldier sees ammo twice a year when they have to qualify.
Don't forget for every front line combat soldier (like the infantry)
there are 12-15 combat support soldiers who don't have to carry
weapons.
Or didn't you know that?
Really? I haven't been there in about 15 years. How did the close all
those streets along Broadway? The went right into housing areas.

Yah, right leftist tool. BTW, this ISN'T the first shooting/murder of
troops by another armed forces type. Tell me "assistant armorer", how
many OFFICER guns did you check in/out?
Dumbass.
Put up fences and barricades and closed them. They even closed off Harry
Wurzbach, which was a city owned street that went right through the
base. About half of the old gates from around the base (like the New
Braunfels gate) are permanently closed now too.
It ain't open no more.
But, as an aside, I remember the first time I went to Ft. Hood. It was
as wide open as just about every other base I had seen. No gates on the
main road into base. But that was back in 85, and I know the base has
changed since then. I spent too many hours on the gates of Ft. McClellan
and at Walter Reed to think thins would stay the same.

Not sure what school you went too. We DON'T have average solders
today.
I am Infantry but I can hump some artillery rounds in the truck when
necessary.
Just so you know this. Three Army Rangers can perform a task of
fifteen men.
Steve Rothstein, who is a cop, is polite, considerate and accurate.
Where did you get this?
It looks like more thjan 60 rounds were fired.
13 dead and 43 injured is at least 56 rounds.
For that many killshe must have been a damn good shot r at close
range.
It was commented that "some of the wounded may have been from friendly
fire."
Even though the perp had 2 guns with twenty round clips, how did he
manage to get off so many rounds and change at least one clip without
being stopped?
There are people there that were hit as many as four times.
How could he not have been tackled by what seems to have been a room
full of "military" personnel being redied to ship out to combat?
This doesn't say much for their abilities under fire.

The list of liberal lies is so long as to boggle the mind. They have
been doing it forever. But the latest wrinkle is to accuse all
conservatives of lying. That's the oldest trick in the book. The
criminal always accuses his victim of being the criminal.
You are obviously the liar here.

She was civilian security. Her _job_ was to be armed. She was
also trained to be aggressive when confronting a shooter. She did
well, even though she took a hit.
Outside of basic, training, or a combat zone, soldiers don't
carry weapons, particularly when filling out paperwork.

Private weapons is one things. Those who were shot were on duty -
you don't bring your personal weapon on duty.
And military ammo has to be accounted for. It isn't issued

We only had 3 officers in our company so the only ones issued side
arms were those 3, the armorer and myself. We kept no personal weapons
there because then they couldn't get to them on weekends. Those were
kept on the base armory where you could check them out at 0600 each
day.
Uhh..we didn't like giving on to a certain captain. He was an idiot.
As I pointed out for every combat soldier there are 15 combat support
who don't carry weapons on the average day. Then you get the ones who
are stationed stateside in say a hospital who don't qualify but twice
a year.

Shall I start with Reagan or Nixon. About the lying I mean. Or we can
start with bush if you like.
I'm trying to explain that to these idiots, most of which didn't have
the balls to serve. Most soldiers don't see an M16 but twice a year at
weapons qualification. Don't forget only a small percentage of our
active duty force is actually seeing battle. The rest are resting
comfortable in barracks or at home every nite.
>What a shame. The government doesn't trust soliers with

What a shame. You never served so you're completely ignorant.
Times were when there was direct animosity between the local PD and
MP's. The local PD was typically NOT allowed on post, except when
absolutely unavoidable. The MP's took care of virtually all post problems.
Officer of the Watch was rotating duty where I was stationed. While
these officers were not MP's, they were charged with actually going into
the post lockup and counting the prisoners at night, to verify that no
one had escaped. Military law enforcement duties were headed up by an
officer, usually at bird colonel rank on the larger posts.
Things have certainly changed when the local PD is the law on the post.
But then I haven't been on a post for at least two decades.

Don't you ever tire of always being wrong.
Yeah, and closing it was one of the dumbest decisions, IMO. I went to MP
school there in 76 as part of the first group after the school moved
from Ft. Gordon. Was stationed there in 79/80 as part of the 111th on
road duty. got to see them build all the new barracks, add more
training, add the Chemical Corps School, and then they shut it down just
15 years later and rebuilt those same schools elsewhere (MP as you
mentioned, more basic capability there and Ft. Jackson, and I think they
moved the Chem school back to Gordon but I am not sure). What a waste of
money that was.
Steve Rothstein
Just for technical accuracy, the local PD has better relations in most
cases, but it is not the law or regular agency for the post. some of
them still have bad relations.
The Army (and other services I think) has moved towards hiring civilians
and commissioning them as federal police officers. The female involved
at Ft. Hood was one of these DA civilian police and not a member of the
local PD.
Steve Rothstein
Just for technical accuracy, I think you would need to go much further
back to find the first lying politician. In the US, I know it goes as
far back as Lincoln and would bet on it going back to Washington. And
that is just among the presidents, obviously. If we include the other
politicians (like the colonial governors), we could probably trace it
back as far as the Battle of Hastings.
Steve Rothstein
Chem school wen to Leonardwood too.:

My son-in-law just graduated from AIT there. He's in the Reserve.
Nah...it was a good move. I know they just built all that stuff but to
be honest it was already obsolete with the advance in computers. That
plus McClellan was just a tiny little post and they really didn't have
room to do battalion level training.
Remember Defords? Burned to the ground about 5 years ago. It's just an
empty lot now..the downstairs is buried.
And I guess you remember there were 5 strip joints here. All gone. The
area is dead now.
I'm sure you think that's an insult. Actually it is..on your part An
insult because you prove you have no idea what you're talking about.

"She" wasn't the shooter. She was the cop who stopped the shooter.

No, it wasn't. The only folks with guns were the shooter, her and,
possibly, her partner.

No one else had guns until the civilian cops got there. Soldiers don't
run around their base armed unless they have a duty reason to be (MPs) or
have range scheduled for that day. Their firearms are locked in the
company armory.
> There are people there that were hit as many as four times.
Probably......two handguns with up to twenty rounds apiece and magazines
to reload with don't take more than a second or so to change out.

That's a non-sequitur. A synonym for "conservative" is "truth teller."
There are those who are experts with gun and there are those who rush to the
sound of the guns.
Fortunately, in this case, the two characteristics overlapped.
Yes it is. I saw one estimate that over 100 people (unarmed) rushed TO the
scene of the carnage.
The population of Ft Hood is over 35,000. I would venture that many of
the "over 100" simply went to see what was going on and didn't really
have any intention of going there to stop the shooter. Those in
immediate vicinity were not rushing TO the scene, they were rushing away
from it. Does that mean that they are cowards? Absolutely not. The
first rule of surviving a gunfight is find cover, THEN plan out further
defensive action. It does one no good to simply stand there in the line
of fire.
Yep, according to reports she not only responded, but she was shooting as
she closed with him. He charged her after her initial shot and she took
him down while she, herself, suffered wounds to her wrist, lower leg and
thigh. I don't know how many rounds she (or he) fired, but she got him
four times and stopped the carnage. She deserves every kudo she gets.
Especially considering Wayne avoided the war with the Hollywood
excuse.
He was no hero.

Please remember that most of those in here are chickenhawks and didn't
have the balls to serve. They don't know what they are talking about.

People rush to the scene of fires and accidents, too.
