Hello, my name is Mike Shetfield, and I'm a Ph. D. candidate in the
Dept. of Anthropology. My disseration is titled "Guntard culture in the
Midwestern US"

My question concerns the significance to Midwestern guntards of their
guns vs. their barns. It is a topic I've researched extensively, yet
there seems to be a lack of definitive evidence to conclude which of
the two is considered more important from the point of view of a guntard.

As I understand it, a guntard uses his gun to defend his barn. This
establishes the importance of the gun. Yet, given this importance, the
guntard would surely need to store his gun in a safe location--that
location being the barn. Therefore, a barn must be of higher importance
since it contains the gun.

Yet, a barn cannot exist if it is not defended with a gun, which must
precede the barn as it being built so as to ward off competing factions
that may attempt to hijack and take over the barn. This would indicate
that the gun itself is of greater importance, since without it, the barn
could not be built.

As you can see, I've arrived at an impasse and require some
clarification. Any ideas are appreciated, so long they're backed up
with citations.

Thank you,
Mike

What in the hell is a "disseration"?

If you are really a Ph.D. candidate, then you are definitive proof that
our educational system is completely broken and worthless on oh so many
levels.

gud luk wif yer disseration!

My thoughts would be that Frank's College and School of Message are too
deep for your limited qualifications. You should study pedicure
technology and shelf stocking. WalMart probably has a career part time
pedicurists job with your name on it. But don't get too hopeful, WalMart
sells guns to those of us that don't have a police record. Although that
probably leaves you and your mother out as customers, you could still
work on people's feet without being allowed near the gun section.

Maybe there's no evidence because you're confusing urban
gunloons with rural gun owners. Rural gun owners do have
barns but have no association of barns to guns, because they
aren't generally loons.

It's the urban gunloon who does associate his guns - almost
always a dozen or more - with his bunker. An interesting
footnote to this phenomenon is that the "bunker mentality"
associated with gunloons & guns is the origin of the name
"Archie Bunker" from the CBS tv program "All In The Family".

Just cite me as "The Lone Weasel".

First, it's a bunker not a barn.

Second, the gunloon is defending a fake right to have guns
under the Second Amendment (even though he has ultra-liberal
gun rights under state law). Which makes the defense even
more nonsensical.

That's really all there is to being a ridiculous gunloon, aka
"guntard". And they'd frequent titty bars if they had a spare
dollar.

Interesting. The guntard practice of appointing an out-world man to
venture to Wal-Marts in the city to acquire new guns has been
well-documented.

However, this passage clearly explains yet another phenomena which Carl
Reisling has described as a "intriguing phenomena"--the ability of
guntards to secure the money they need to buy their guns, by working as
shoe shiners in department stores.

It is likely that shoe shining is an art form passed on to successive
generations in guntard communities, though further research may be
required to confirm this hypothesis. Nevertheless, Nelson's theory
about bottle-collecting as the primary source of guntard income seems to
be debunked.

Hello. My name is Mike Albritton, and I don't give a rat's ass if you're
the Pope.
You're just another gun grabbing liar.
The one and only thing that makes you any different than the rest of them is
that you (for some unknown reason) believe that you have an extended
vocabulary.

Wanna call me a liar?
Ph.D candidates know how to correctly do research.
Research this:
Vermont, gunlaws, and violent crime.
Washington DC, LA, New York, Great Britian, Australia, "gun free zones," gun
laws, and violent crime.

How many gun laws directly dictates how much violent crime a community has.
More restrictive gun laws = more crime.
Next to zero gun laws = a damn safe community.

Your 'disseration' is misspelled.

Why ask gun owners? Go ask a 'guntard' - whatever that is.

You don't understand it - which invalidates your premise.

Are you implying that only barn owners own guns? So only cops and
military own barns? If that's so, who is farming food in the US?

The only impasse is the question of which orfice you are speaking out
of -- your mouth or your ass. That is easily resolved with the
knowledge that the two parts are identical and interchangeable on a
liberal.

Actually guntards are those from the left that know nothing about firearms
except that that have an irrational fear of them.

I fear that the original poster has finished High School - a
Public School associated with a major university Education Department
no doubt, which has done wonders for his self-esteem, but nothing for
increasing his knowledge base - as well as college (with a BA in
Victim Studies) and is now in graduate school. That's the only
explanation for him being so stupid - he's spent far too much time in
a University. Any sense he may have had as a child got washed away in
the decades spent in the fever swamps of Academia.
What was it Orwell is suppose to have said "There are some ideas
which are so preposterous, only an Intellectual would believe them."
Mike is just such an intellectual - all book learning, no smarts.
