CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Two people have been charged in a
home invasion this past weekend in Craven County where one of
the gunmen was shot and killed.

Johnny Davis told deputies that two masked men forced their way
into his Hillard Road home around 12:35 a.m. Saturday.

The gunman began to shoot and Davis apparently fired back,
hitting both of them.

Deputies say Vincent Ervin, 24, of Richlands, and Joshua Hicks,
27, of Jacksonville, managed to get away in a car driven by
Ervin's girlfriend, Chastity Roberts, of Jacksonville.

The woman crashed her car on Simmons Loop Road in Jones County
where it was discovered later that morning. Inside the car, they
found the body of Ervin.

Davis, who was also hit by the gunfire, was taken to
CarolinaEast Medical Center, as well as Hicks for his gunshot
wounds.

Roberts and Hicks have been charged with first degree burglary,
assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting
serious injury, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and
conspiracy to attempt robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Roberts was jailed under a $100,000 secured bond and Hicks with
a $200,000 secured bond.
