Just like Battlestar Galactica got reimagined and rebooted,
it appears that Carl Sagan's TV series "Cosmos" is going to the same
fate.

This time, the series will be hosted by scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
It will be produced by Seth MacFarlane, who is well known for the TV
sitcom "Family Guy."

Will Stewie Griffin co-host?

"The FOX Network." So the updated version will include a young
Earth, Big Foot, and the denial of human-caused climate change.

Tyson is too good for that I'd hope. Fox local tends to be subversive
sometimes (see Simpsons), unlike the Ailes "News" Network (=Rush
Limbaugh 24/7)

[quote NYTimes link shortened above] Yet behind a comic sensibility that
is sometimes provocative and sometimes puerile, Mr. MacFarlane is a
committed fan of the first “Cosmos” who laments a modern society that he
says has lost its fascination with science.

“We’re obsessed with angels and vampires and whatnot,” Mr. MacFarlane,
37, said in a telephone interview, “when there are many more exciting
and very real and much more spectacular things to be excited about, that
are right in our own planetary backyard.” [endquote]

I doubt by "right" he means right-wing. Papa Murdoch will do anything
for bottom line.

Can we have Seth narrate it too? Preferably in Stewie's voice.

I somehow doubt that Neil would allow that.

He would not. But it is amazing how FOX can make scientists say
the exact opposite of what scientists say.
