to talk-o...@moderators.isc.org
I recalled that a couple of weeks ago I put up a thread about finding
archived copies of things where the links had gone broken.

https://groups.google.com/d/msg/talk.origins/PsgLhGryz5A/EBFTTlI0BgAJ

With Nyikos renewing his patented denial and stupidity on this topic it
occurred to me that this was exactly the material needed to convince
anyone that what Nyikos has been lying about for the past 8 years is
something that he should just admit that he was dead wrong and stop the
senseless denial that has been the basis for the Nyikosian assoholic
behavior towards me since his return to TO back in 2010.

In one of Nyikos' first posts when he returned to TO he wanted to deny
that the Discovery Institute had run the bait and switch on the Ohio
IDiot rubes in 2002. When I put up unequivocal evidence that the
Discovery institute particpated in the Ohio bait and switch he ran, and
has never addressed that post to this day. Instead he continued his
denial in other posts in that thread. The denial has expanded and
morphed over the years, but Nyikos still denies that the bait and switch
ever went down and he also claims that the ID perps never claimed to
have the ID science to teach in the public schools. It is a sad and
strange claim because the teach ID scam was what the ID perps at the
Discovery Institute were most known for before they started running the
bait and switch. They were running the teach ID scam before Nyikos had
to take his vacation from TO at the turn of the century.

The 1999 booklet that Nyikos keeps running from clearly states that the
ID perps want ID taught in the public schools and that Of Pandas and
People can be used to teach the junk. This is why "tomorrow" never came
for the posts that Nyikos claimed to Glenn that he would deal with in
detail. The post that I link to in the holy water repost has the quote
from the booklet that Nyikos has always run from. That is why I knew
Nyikos was lying to Glenn about addressing those posts. He had never
addressed that material and he had been given it multiple times. Nyikos
always snipped it out and ran or just ran from the posts with that
material in it.

The above link has the Discovery Institute web page (from 2003) for the
Teach the Controversy education material. From that page you could
download a pdf copy of the 1999 booklet that Nyikos is running from.

QUOTE:
9. Conclusion
Local school boards and state education officials are frequently
pressured to avoid teaching the controversy regarding biological
origins. Indeed, many groups, such as the National Academy of Sciences,
go so far as to deny the existence of any genuine scientific controversy
about the issue.(162) Nevertheless, teachers should be reassured that
they have the right to expose their students to the problems as well as
the appeal of Darwinian theory. Moreover, as the previous discussion
demonstrates, school boards have the authority to permit, and even
encourage, teaching about design theory as an alternative to Darwinian
evolution--and this includes the use of textbooks such as Of Pandas and
People that present evidence for the theory of intelligent design.

The controlling legal authority, the Supreme Court's decision in
Edwards v. Aguillard, explicitly permits the inclusion of alternatives
to Darwinian evolution so long as those alternatives are based on
scientific evidence and not motivated by strictly religious concerns.
Since design theory is based on scientific evidence rather than
religious assumptions, it clearly meets this test. Including discussions
of design in the science curriculum thus serves an important goal of
making education inclusive, rather than exclusionary. In addition, it
provides students with an important demonstration of the best way for
them as future scientists and citizens to resolve scientific
controversies--by a careful and fair-minded examination of the evidence.
END QUOTE:

What is even sadder is that the ID perps did not remove the claim that
they had a scientific theory of ID to teach in the public schools from
their education policy until they ran the bait and switch on both
Louisiana and Texas within months of each other in 2013. I was going to
put up a link to the propaganda pamphlet, but the link is broken. When
you go to the Science and Culture web page and go to their education
resources the link no longer functions. Other Education resources are
still available, so it may come back.

https://www.discovery.org/id/

This is the Science and Culture web page, but when you go to the
Education pull down menu the Briefing packet is no longer available.
Glenn will likely be heart broken, but it may be temporary.

Wayback to the rescue, Briefing Packet from 2017:

Another thing to note from that post is the affirmation by 52 IDiot
"scientists" who supported the Teach the Controversy creationist scam,
and they include intelligent design as part of that controversy, just
like the Discovery Institute pamphlet that Nyikos always runs from. It
is apparent that the Discovery Institute sold these rubes on the teach
ID scam, and then ran the bait and switch on them. The article states
that some of the signers attached their names after Meyers and Wells had
run the bait and switch. Just like the ARNites these IDiots were so far
into denial that they didn't understand what the "compromise" was that
Meyer proposed. They still believed that ID should be taught in the
Ohio public schools, and didn't understand that the bait and switch had
gone down and that the switch scam makes no mention of the existence of
IDiocy.

QUOTE:
Robert DiSilvestro, one of the statement signers and a professor at The
Ohio State University, commented that, "As a scientist who has been
following this debate closely, I think that a valid scientific challenge
has been mounted to Darwinian orthodoxy on evolution. There are good
scientific reasons to question many currently accepted ideas in this area."

During a public presentation to the Ohio School Board on March 11, two
experts on evolution opposed allowing the arguments against Darwin’s
theory to be taught, while two other experts – advocates of "intelligent
design" – supported the inclusion of scientific arguments for and
against Darwin’s theory in the new standards.
END QUOTE:

Some signed after March 11.
QUOTE:
"The more this controversy rages, the more our colleagues start to
investigate the scientific issues," said DiSilvestro. "This has caused
more scientists to publicly support our statement." He noted that
several on the list had signed after the March 11 presentation to the
Ohio State Board of Education in Columbus, Ohio.
END QUOTE:

What they signed:
QUOTE:
We Affirm:

That biological evolution is an important scientific theory that should
be taught in the classroom;

That a quality science education should prepare students to distinguish
the data and testable theories of science from religious or
philosophical claims that are made in the name of science;

That a science curriculum should help students understand why the
subject of biological evolution generates controversy;

That where alternative scientific theories exist in any area of inquiry
(such as wave vs. particle theories of light, biological evolution vs.
intelligent design, etc.), students should be permitted to learn the
evidence for and against them;

That a science curriculum should encourage critical thinking and
informed participation in public discussions about biological origins.
END QUOTE:

So we have a bunch of IDiot rubes that got sold the teach ID scam, and
hadn't yet accepted that the bait and switch had gone down. The bait
and switch has gone down on all IDiots that have wanted to teach the
science of ID in the public schools. There are no exceptions, the only
failure was with the Dover creationists who would not bend over for the
switch scam and tried to teach ID anyway.

We will see next time what Nyikos does when this is added to the holy
water repost.
