Here's the important announcement (excerpt) posted today at:

http://www.apologeticspress.org

Important Announcement!

On May 23, 2005, Dr. Jim Clark, M.D., Vice-President of the Board of
Directors of Apologetics Press, announced the following organizational
changes: Dr. Dave Miller has accepted the position of interim Executive
Director, and the members of the Board of Directors are Dr. Clark,
Daniel L. McLeod, and Dr. Miller. Dr. Clark went on to say that
Apologetics Press will always be indebted to Dr. Bert Thompson, AP's
co-founder and sole Executive Director for twenty-six years.

Anybody know what that is all about?

Sincerely,

Basically it turns out that Dr. Bert Thompson is gay.

Now being a fundamentalist this is a major "no, no." Surely he
has written on this for Apologetics Press. So I did a search at
their website.

It appears that they are taking Bert's name of off anti-homosexual
articles.

Go to the following article:

http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/2703

It has the following reference:

Harrub, Brad, Bert Thompson, and Dave Miller (2004), " ‘This is the
Way God Made Me’"A Scientific Examination of Homosexuality and the
‘Gay Gene,’ " and "An Investigation of the Biblical Evidence Against
Homosexuality" [On-line], URL:
http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/2553;
http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/2577.

Open up the first one and it is now:

Apologetics Press :: Reason & Revelation
August 2004 - 24[8]:73-79

"This is the Way God Made Me""A Scientific Examination of
Homosexuality and the "Gay Gene"
by Brad Harrub, Ph.D., and Dave Miller, Ph.D.

[EDITOR’S NOTE: This article has been edited to include the original
material written by the authors (6/2005).]

Clearly a little revision happened.

The second URL is for part 2 of a series. It lists part on in the
bibliography:

Harrub, Brad, Bert Thompson, and Dave Miller (2004), " ‘This is the
Way God Made Me’"A Scientific Examination of Homosexuality and the
‘Gay Gene,’ " Reason & Revelation, 24:73-79, August.

Do note that Bert Thompson's name has not been removed from other
articles.

Well the quality of creationist articles will now go a bit up since
Thompson's stuff was some of its worst.

The following was posted at
http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/396:

We have received a considerable number of phone calls and emails the
last couple of weeks. Rumors and speculation abound concerning Bert
Thompson's departure. Allow us to shed some light of truth through
all of the confusion. We genuinely desire that our readers be given the
facts regarding recent events that have transpired at Apologetics
Press. Hopefully, this article will differentiate between fact and
fiction.

On Tuesday, May 24, 2005 the Board of Directors terminated A.P.'s
affiliation with the Executive Director, Bert Thompson. This decision
was the result of a cooperative investigation by A.P. personnel and two
close friends of the work who uncovered instances of long-term,
deep-seated personal sins in his life. No other staff member of
Apologetics Press had knowledge of Dr. Thompson's actions. Once the
A.P. board, the supervising elders, and the staff became aware of the
situation, there was agreement that the problem must be dealt with
swiftly and decisively. While this tragedy is sorrowful, it is
gratifying to know that faithful men of God were willing to stand up
for what is right. Too often, individuals simply "stick their heads
in the sand" and hope a situation rectifies itself. However, these
men had the courage to do what was necessary to remove sin from the
camp. We deeply regret that this circumstance has occurred, and our
prayers continue to go out to any who may have been adversely affected.
We are happy to report that Dr. Thompson has publicly confessed his
sins, and is currently undergoing counseling.

The current staff at Apologetics Press is devoted to the task of
defending New Testament Christianity. We believe this task to be vital
to the times in which we live, especially given the moral and spiritual
decline of society. We also believe our labors will speak for
themselves in the days ahead. In fact, we will soon release two of our
latest books (The Quran Unveiled and volume two of The Anvil Rings). We
think you will appreciate the contribution that these two volumes will
make to the cause of truth.

Any company with a 26-year history will experience some setbacks upon
the loss of an executive director. Thankfully, however, Dr. Dave Miller
has been appointed as interim Executive Director, a decision that was
met with excitement by the entire staff. Aside from Dr. Miller's vast
knowledge of the Scriptures, he also possesses more than 10 years of
experience serving as director for Christian organizations. He has
already brought a tremendous amount of stability and vision to the work
at Apologetics Press, and we feel confident that the work will flourish
in the years to come.

Those who consider themselves our enemies may seek to use these
circumstances to criticize the scientific and biblical truths advocated
by A.P. But truth is truth-even when one who has been a prominent
advocate of that truth succumbs to hypocrisy and fails to apply that
truth to himself. The truths that A.P. has defended for over a quarter
of a century have not been compromised nor diminished by this most
unfortunate occurrence. The sins committed by a former member of our
organization do not represent the organization nor its teaching.

The work of Apologetics Press is bigger than any one man. We believe
that A.P. is in a very real sense God's work, and we are simply
laborers in the vineyard. This work is the product of countless hours
given by a large staff of individuals who are working toward a common
goal-producing well-researched, top-quality materials that teach the
Truth in order to broaden the borders of the Kingdom. The publication
of our two journals is ongoing, and many more books, articles, and
tracts will be forthcoming. In addition, the professional staff (Eric
Lyons, Kyle Butt, Dave Miller, and I) will continue to conduct weekend
seminars across the United States. The work is going forward.

We would ask for your prayers at this crucial time. We need your
support now more than ever. We would ask that you join arm-in-arm with
us and help us continue to fight the good fight. We remain humbly here
to serve you. We pray that God will "grant us that we, being
delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear,
in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life"
(Luke 1:74-75, emp. added). Should you have questions or concerns, we
will be happy to hear from you.

I don't think that is quite accurate. Thompson is bisexual. He is married,
has been for decades, has no problems with his heterosexual side. But the
repression of his homosexual side by his religious doctrine made that side
come out in very inappropriate ways.
I never liked his doctrine. Often felt he was deliberately lying in the
name of Jesus. Still its sad to see someone caught in this kind of mess.
Fundamentalism is really sick as a philosophy.

Another disgusting side to fundamentalism. Rewrite the truth when it
embarrasses the faithful.

AP has taken advantage of the program aired by The History Channel
by launching a marketing campaign for a book by Bert and Brad.
