some say vacuum fluctuations caused the big bang

but others say even space (vacuum) came out of the big bang

which is right?

What's certain is that your (Dale) conflating space and vacuum isn't
helping matters. I mean, I *agree* that vacuum implies space, in my
layperson understanding of the terms, but in fact I'll guess both words
have precise scientific meanings in physics, and those are what you need
to deal with, not your layperson's understanding of the words.

What is it with people pretending two related but different concepts are
the same by the simple expedient of putting one of them in parentheses
behind the other anyway ? Is it an item on the crackpot list ? Did
Backspace start a trend ?

My take on it is that our big bang, which created our universe, was
the result of a quantum fluctuation in our parent universe. And yes,
it might be universes all the way down. BTW, avoid the word "vacuum".
There is no such thing, at least in the field sense.
