Same problem. Kaspersky Lab launcher 30% CPU usage. Try switching it off and on again. So go to KIS settings, click on File Anti-Virus, make sure Security level is Optimal, turn File Anti-Virus off, save, confirm. You will receive warning notifications. Turn File Anti-Virus back on, save, confirm. Kaspersky Lab launcher should now be using 0 to 0.4% CPU usage.

Until the point when someone finds an exploit and you didn't apply the patch since it's just a launcher. There's certainly less risk of an exploit with a smaller codebase but running out-of-date software is generally bad practice and I think particularly egregious in this case since updating the designer launcher is minimal risk to your production environment

However manual upgrades can be performed. Simply download and run a new launcher installer from a more recent Ignition Gateway. During installation, simply set the installation directory to the same directory as the old launcher.

As of 8.0.13's bundled client/designer launcher, you'll get a prompt if you connect to a gateway that's got a significantly different version of the launcher available. Not quite auto-updates, but pretty good.
...
That aside, they only get better, so there's certainly no harm in updating

If I click on the Splunk Icon at my Splunk Web Interface I get a error message "The app "launcher" is not available " instead of the overview which got mentioned in the Splunk tutorials where you can describe your forwarded data or watch your collected data summary. After I got this error question I only can go to apps like "Search and Reporting" or "dhcpd" etc.

I've already looked to see if the "launcher" app is under etc/apps, but it's missing, even though I thought that this is a "core app" after a fresh installation. Otherwise I cant forward data from my forwarders to this Splunk master.

Is there anything in the log file for the launcher? should be at C:\Users\YOUR_USER\.ignition\clientlauncher-data\LAUNCHER_NAME.log
If nothing really stands out (logged exception or warning/errors) i would get in touch with support

Nothing specifically. can you try something for me? I have uploaded a zip file which contains a file called designerlauncher.l4j.ini inside of it. can you place that file next to the designer launcher executable? Make sure its specifically the executable, not the shortcut (if you right click the shortcut you should be able to click Open File Location which will show you the original designerlauncher.exe file.)

I disabled Hardware Accelerated rendering here. This is usually not needed and likely means there is an issue with your graphical environment (Display driver or something else). I would recommend upgrading your drivers and performing Windows Updates (if there are any) and restarting to see if the launchers will load without the *.l4j.ini file.

Included are dxdiags, both 32 and 64 bit along with the Epic Launcher logs in zip format. If you need more information please let us know at the earliest. We can restart the launcher with debugging enabled if that helps get you more information.

Having read , I installed spotify-launcher with pacman. I ran spotify-launcher through rofi. It downloaded halfway then 'finished' and hung. I then ran spotify-launcher with cli and it this is the output

So I had the same issue this morning and the way I fixed it was deleting spotify or spotify-tui from config folder, I deleted both of them because I wanted to sign in again.
After doing that I launched spotify-launcher from terminal and it downloaded without any issue. Hopefully this fixes it for you as well or maybe you already fixed it by now.

If you want to use this launcher outside dash/launcher (ex: as a desktop launcher) you need to add execution permission by right clicking the file and choosing Properties -> Permissions -> Allow execution, or, via the command-line:

If you have donwloaded Eclipse from the website instead of install it from repositories you can lock the launcher doesn't work. You can solve this by writting the file with extension .desktop, in our case eclipse.desktop.

If not using a *.deb file, your software is not included in menus or the launcher. The easy way:Just start Eclipse from /opt and look for an icon appear in Unity launcher (the sidebar). Right click and check "Keep in launcher".

Once you're finished click ok. Now you can navigate your file browser down to /usr/share/applications and you will find your new launcher. Simply drag it to your launcher bar and you are ready to go. This process puts your launchers in a place where all users can access them. Most of what I have found puts thing on the desktop which might be fine for some but not for me. I hope you find this helpful.

After thought, every time you create a new launcher you will have to enter your password. This is necessary to make the new launcher accessible to all users. It will belong to root and the group will be root this way. That is the way the rest of the system comes configured. If you cd to /usr/share/applications, type ls -l and, verify for yourself. Ubuntu should have supplied their os with an application already installed for creating launchers. There are other things I disagree with like the screensaver and no short cut to the desktop. I have only been on 11.10 for a couple days. I am going to give it the college try. If I still don't like it in a month I will fix it then.

@trungleduc @krassowski hello , I ran "npm run build " and "jupyter lab build " all succeed , but why is the customized content still not displayed correctly as this demo shows (GitHub - trungleduc/jupyter_app_launcher: A JupyterLab extension to create custom launcher entries. ), if feel convience , pls help me check ,thx.

@trungleduc Glad to recieve this reply, thanks. I already tried this and create a path named jupyter_app_launcher under the directory of jupyter data path, then created a jp_app_launcher_my_extension.yaml , customized my conten into this yaml file and it displays ok. But what confuses me is why neither compilation nor direct installation can display the samples contained in code.(jupyter_app_launcher/samples at v0.1.7 trungleduc/jupyter_app_launcher GitHub). In the installation or compilation progress , does it copy this yaml file to data path?

What do you think about adding functionality similar to jupyter-app-launcher into JupyterLab core say for 4.2. or 4.3? It seems like customization of the laucher seems like a common use case. In lab we could have a just a list of settings for it.

That's basically every platform that I could easily get going under GitHub Actions or build directly on my macOS machine. And if you have cargo installed from Rust, cargo install python-launcher also works (although you do get the bonus features like the man page and fish tab completions).

I later on moved the directory to /opt/Pycharm/. This is causing the once functioning unity launcher (which was added when PyCharm was initially installed) to fail every time I attempt to use it (as expected).

I managed to solve it. The thing is, Pycharm already installs a launcher inside .local/share/applications. Thus, you need to get rid of it before proceeding to create your own. After that, all you have to do is add your own *.desktop file to the applications directory inside usr/share/applications/.

With Ubuntu 16.04, I used the "snap" installer, which doesn't include an easily accessible icon (there's probably one hidden inside the snap image, but it's hard to get at). Instead it shows a grey question mark icon in the launcher instead. Also there doesn't seem to be a Tools > Create Desktop Entry option in version 2017.3.3 as far as I can see - maybe it has been moved somewhere.

I recently resolved a related issue where, after updating from v2.7 to v3.0.2, my PyCharm launcher was still pointing to the old (and now deleted) PyCharm path.
After attempting all of the (good) advice above, the problem still persisted.
The solution, in my case, was to create a desktop entry for ALL USERS.
[Welcome Screen]->Configure->Create Desktop Entry...
Check the box: "Create entry for all users" and then proceed.

We developed our Helix ORSC engine in-house and used low-cost stainless steel with other industrial components from the automotive, oil and energy industries to construct our launcher. The cherry on top of our launcher is our unique OTV called Redshift.

Hello team,

I'm creating an application that uses the integrated Intercom messenger app triggered by Userflow resource center. so, from an option in the Userflow resource center, I want to open the Intercom messenger.

This works smoothly, however, I'm implementing a custom launcher, and even following the documentation's recommendations and keeping the attribute hide_default_launcher: true, every time Userflow opens the Intercom messenger, it automatically shows the launcher, as if Userflow overwrites this property, even adding an Intercom('onShow') event and forcing the update of the hide_default_launcher attribute to true, the launcher continues to be displayed.

Where could the error be? Is this really possible ?

Lately I have been working on migrating Fiji to Java 21. A key piece of that effort has been Jaunch, a flexible new native launcher for Java programs. Jaunch has now reached the point where it can function as a launcher for various software projects in our community, including Fiji, Icy, QuPath, ImageJ, and other Java-based tools.
