Did her father divorce her mother or leave her?? Maybe what she's saying about thanking her father isn't positive. He possibly cheated on Lana's mother and now Lana is doing something similar. So she learned from her father about adultery?
Well, I could be wrong but the only Harvey I can think of that could have any relation to her is Harvey Weinstein, who's an American film producer. They've been spotted having lunch together and he also happens to be married.
Maybe all together it means that she has no problems wearing diamonds in tough areas (or just visiting areas with bad reps) because she knows how to handle herself in those type of situations, something she could've learned from her father. I'm not positive though.
Despite the fact that it says "Ah, he's in the sky with diamonds" in the booklet, I definitely hear Harvey in there. That could be a reference to a Harvey Wallbanger, which was an alcoholic beverage popular in the '50s and '60s. Here's a picture:
Color wise and ingredient wise, I think it fits the Paradisiacal theme she was going for with the album. Basically, she's fucking a married dude on some tropical beach, drinking Harvey Wallbangers and learning that her vagina tastes like Pepsi.
Keeping with the Americana theme, Del Rey "wears her diamonds on skid row"...no fear because she is either accepted (as a gangster) or a bad bitch. Undoubtedly, her pussy tastes like cola, another American staple and well pepsi rhymes better than coca cola
The rest serve to solidify her Americanism in a tongue-in-cheek fashion "I fall asleep in an American flag". I don't think it's a coincidence that this song is followed by "Body Electric" which goes far deeper into satirizing Americanism "Elvis is my daddy, Marylin is my mother, Jesus is my bestest friend" ... or at least she "pretends", reinforcing the American materialism/superficiality that she brought up in National Anthem (money is the anthem of success...take me to the Hamptons in the Buggati Veyeron)
Ah he's in the sky with diamonds is an old Beatles reference to "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" ... meaning LCD - a hallucinogenic drug. All he wants to do is party with the drug and her, she wants to ride (maybe sexually) while on the drugs, she wants to escape to the "great sunshine" ... a happy place.
She often talks references American things for her love for the country through symbolism. I wear my diamonds on Skid Row is probably saying that she's sold meth/used meth in Skid Row, a poor urban area in Cali (probably where she had her trailer in the park.
i love how her lyrics are not in-your-face plain obvious and there can be several different interpretations for them... we never really know what she's talking about unless she explains it for us and she doesn't seme very interested in doing that, instead leaving it for our imagination
