#ETE17 Speaker Invite

Hope you had a great weekend!

I’m writing to personally invite you to speak at this year’s Energy, Technology & Education Festival---ETE17 on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW, Washington, DC 20001. The theme for ETE17 is Hacking the Nation's Cybersecurity Workforce Shortage in Energy, Finance, Health Sciences & Gaming.
So what is ETE17?
ETE17 is a cybersecurity-focused STEM festival.  At ETE17, guests can:
  • Network with representatives from companies, government agencies, universities, schools, and after school/summer programs
  • Learn about cybersecurity scholarships, jobs, grants and contracts
  • Listen to cutting edge discussions with leaders in the energy, health, and finance fields
  • Shop for deals with innovative artists and other entrepreneurs among our exhibitors
Breakfast, lunch, and an evening reception hosted by NASDAQ are included in the registration price.  Plus, check out our #Hackathon---a venture competition inspired by the tragic death of one of my Bowie State University students slain in an apparent hate crime this spring while waiting for an Uber.
As an added attraction, for this year's festival we plan to include a Gaming Zone, complete with free computer games. This space seeks to highlight the important role of computer gaming and sci-fi in boosting excitement in cybersecurity.

As a speaker, you would join a distinguished list including Members of Congress, executives, and other energy, finance, health sciences, and gaming sector leaders focusing on protecting our nation from cyber attacks.

Speakers are asked to support the success of ETE17 by registering as partner or corporate speaker.   A schedule of the speaking opportunities as well as speaker registration benefits and fees can be found below:

STEM4US! Partners with National Bar Association and Cliff Barnes of Epstein Becker & Green for Seminar on Obamacare vs. Canadacare at NBA Health Law Summit in Toronto, CA

Last week, I joined over 900 other lawyers from around the world attending the Annual Convention of the National Bar Association (NBA) in Toronto, CA. The largest and oldest association of lawyers of color around the world, the NBA.was led by my former law partner Kevin Judd through the end of the convention.  This year’s convention was the NBA's first held outside the US.
At the convention, I partnered with Cliff Barnes of Epstein Becker & Green to host a seminar about the differences and similarities between healthcare systems in the US and Canada, as well as efforts seeking to reform both systems. Seminar speakers included Congressman Bobby ScottRobert Mazie, General Counsel for the Ontario Ministry of Health, and Josephine Harriott, with Howard University Health Sciences.  In addition to the dozens of people who joined us in person, scores more viewed the event's broadcast on Facebook Live.
