Gents,

My first ever job was in brewery back in 1977. I was a lab technician and not responsible for social events.

It seems the Elastic IP may have made the instance IP unreachable. So we are now at the Elastic IP only i.e.

ec2-107-22-173-102.compute-1.amazonaws.com

What about people who joined the board but are not in the group mailing? Are there any?

There probably are some, can we check on the members list on the board and email them. If we hang on a bit I can get the new domain pointing to the mew instance and we can email everyone that info.

I don't think google sites would work for this as its PHP based.

I think AWS is OK, we are just on a learning curve re it and should stick with it. My bigger concern is if it will cost $ ongoing.

presumably you have set a cap just in case for some reason it gets mad ?

Do we have any idea if once things are setup we will be able to use it for free or there would be a cost daily?

I have created a domain called CompFinanceGroup.com and redirected it to the latest version of the instance at http://ec2-107-22-173-102.compute-1.amazonaws.com/ . it works for me but may be propagating around the internet at the moment.

BB is a very good solution for long term but ... 

But the bigger question is .. what if the user base increases over time ? I am sure Peter can sponser the bandwidth cost upto a limit  :) ... 

Can we look at options like

1) Ads in forum to compensate the server cost.

2) Switch to different servers with free cost + some ads etc ...

suggestions ?

Well.....I set an alarm for when billing reached a $1.00 threshold and then that started to appear in the billing summary so I turned it off! 

At present I don't know how to cap it. Let's monitor December and have a review after Christmas. Or Festivus, if anyone is a Seinfeld fan!
