Gents,

Please see:

Have a play - it's just an idea. Post a few things you don't mind losing.

This is running on an Amazon EC2 'micro' instance in the free tier. (I hope.) See: http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/#pricing

It's Ubuntu Server 12.04, Apache, MySQL Server, phpMyAdmin and YaBB. Board admin is done from any browser and is very easy. The server is running the Ubuntu desktop so I set up NX Server to access the desktop (http://www.nomachine.com/) which took a while.

Looks cool Peter but it seems to have moderation set for the posts which is probably a bad idea.

I'll have a look. Post as a guest for now, I think that works!

The forums topics are random, just to get the 'look and feel' of yaBB.

I like the new board Peter has setup.

I've had a quick play around with the admin options and it seems really well featured, and from my brief play around the look and feel is very friendly.

If/when we decide to move over to the new forum I will transfer over the posts from the google group so we dont loose anything. It will probably be done using a single user I'll create for the purpose rather than each post being submitted as the original author as it would be really hard to do the later. But it should be obvious who said what.

Should I go ahead and do that and we make the switch or should people experiment with the board more?

Dave
