It is always good fun to go to a live gig. I went to the media preview of Indie Week 2010, held at The Hideout. It was a nice little pow wow of a different group of people altogether. From my experience in the many different events I am sent to as media, there is a group of photographers for every segment, and we dress the part.

You have the suits for political photographers that take care of events like the elections and PMO dealings, just because you need to blend into a crowd of VIPs when PR has had enough of media.

The surprisingly unfashionable fashion photographers that almost own media spots at LG Fashion Week dress comfortably because well, its tough enough holding a big lens and an equally heavy dslr body in the media pit while being packed in like sardines. It also differentiates a media photographer who is there 12 hours a day from a 'freelancer' who is only shooting a show for a pal. Yes, there is a status thing going on.

The indie/grunge concert photogs who hang out at College and the entertainment district work on street cred, I have spotted more than one pierced and tatted up for the night.

Lastly, the commercial photogs who do only studio work wear the nice shoes because tis all indoors and have assistants...tres le sigh....... I could go on but this post is totally supposed to be about Indie Week.

It was fun. The Berlin Brides rock.
