Creating short TALENs (<10 RVDs) using Voytas lab golden gate cloning kit

Dear All,

I'm trying to create TALENs which have multiple binding sites throughout the Arabidopsis genome. The manual for the Voytas lab golden gate kit focuses on creating TALENs containing 12 or more RVDs but I would like to make much sorter constructs. Is this possible? It seems that without 10 RVDs in pFUS_A it will not ligate as the sticky ends won't align correctly. Can I assemble 5 RVDs in pFUS_B5 and ligate with an empty pFUS_A and a pLR containing the last RVD of my TALEN?
