Could somone please let me know if there are GMAT questions and answers
( plus the explanation of how to solve them) on the web ?
( Specifically on Probability and Sequence questions)
Sample question ( would appreciate it if someone can let me know how to
solve it?)
- For every even integer n, the function h(n) is defined to be the
product of all the even integers from 2 to n, inclusive.
If p is the smallest prime factor of h(100)+1, then p is
1) Between 2 and 10
2) between 10 and 20
3) between 20 and 30
4) between 30 and 40
5) greater than 40
I tried to solve it using:
h(10)+1 = 3841 ( which is prime) therefore making the assumption that
h(100)+1 probarbly does not have any small prime factors either
and therefore chose option 5.

Your answer is correct.........!!!!!!!!... As U have taken 2 u got 3.
Next time just take three 3 again u will find 2+1=3,
Next time again you just take 4 this time you will get 2*4+1=9
Next time again you just take 6 this time you will get 2*6+1=13

so the ans should be 2+1=3
there (a) should be the ans.

My answer is E.
My reasoning is this:
h(100) = 2 * 4 * 6 * ...* 98 * 100
Therefore h(100) has, as factors, the prime numbers
2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23,29,31,37,41,47.
If I now add 1 to h(100), none of the prime numbers listed above can be
factors. The smallest prime factor has to be larger than 47!. The
smallest prime factor (other than 1) has to be at least 51 or greater.
Therefore the answer is E.
