Hello everyone,
Here is a wrap-up from our action committee conference call today:
1) Wed June 16th Picket at Sen Buono's fundraiser
* The Take Back Trenton Coalition, a partner of the Better Choices Coalition will be staging a picket outside of Sen. Barbara Buono's fundraiser/town hall meeting on Wed. June 16th at Tumulty's Pub in New Brunswick (361 George St, New Brunswick).
* The Picket will begin at 5pm, a half hour before the scheduled event.
* A press release is currently being prepared along with a leaflet for the day of. We ask that anyone with extra time on their hands prepare some signs for the day of. Please make sure that the message is directed at Sen Buono and the Democrats because we must keep the pressure on them as well as Christie. Therefore, an example of such a sign would be: Join the millionaire's club -- Vote for Christie's Budget; Senator Buono: If You Don't Oppose the Draconian Budget Cuts, then You Own the Budget Cuts; etc.
* In conjunction with the picket, members of the Better Choices Coalition will be inside, putting direct pressure on Senator Buono. All participants of the picket are encouraged to do the same at some point.
* Please circulate far and wide:
Please forward:
Senator Buono: If You Don't Oppose the Draconian Budget Cuts, then You Own the Budget Cuts!

2) Target homes and offices of key legislators (June 19-23)
* We are planning to have coordinated actions throughout the state between June 19-23. We will be showing up at Democratic legislators homes and/or offices to show them that the people need their no-vote!!!
* More info will soon be available on this.
3) Mon June 21st Democratic fundraiser
* On Monday, June 21st, the Democrats will be holding a fundraiser in Trenton at 8:30. Exact location will be available soon. We will be setting up a visual display outside highlighting the need for the NJ State breakfast program.
* We are going to create a visual of paper plates with a legislator's name on each plate to show that their vote is equatable with a child's much needed breakfast. Each plate will be linked together with string so that participants can hold a long chain that covers the length of the building.
* We are planning on working with Better Choices and Working Families to hold a press conference along with the plate visual as a way of drawing attention to the need of the breakfast program, and outlining the horrific nature of Christie's proposed budget that the Democrats have remained silent on.
4) Change of group name
We will be changing the name of the group. Name is not official yet but if Action Committee is available, then it will be that. Better Choices is worried that some of our actions do not reflect the consensus of the broader coalition, so to avoid angering folks, we will change the name. Stay tuned for an update email within the next day.
Thanks and in solidarity,
Mike McCabe
