Hello everyone,

 

A few things:

 

1) For those of you who are new to googlegroups, if you would like to send an email to the groups, send it to the address - BetterChoicesA...@googlegroups.com. Doing so will forward the email to every group member. Keep in mind that when you reply to an email, the response also goes to the entire group.

 

2) I have added a few extra people to our email list who will be useful to us. Many of them are members of the Take Back Trenton Coalition.

 

3) Currently, we are working towards planning an action at a fundraiser / town hall style meeting for Democrat Sen. Barbara Buono. It is going to be on Wed June 16, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at Tumulty's Pub in New Brunswick (361 George Street). The Take Back Trenton Coalition will be staging a picket directly outside the pub for the purpose of putting pressure on the Dems to vote against the budget, and to recruit folks who may be passing by to both join the Better Choices campaign as well as to enter the fundraiser and voice their outrage to Sen Buono. We will also be directing press inside to cover the pressure that our BC comrades our exerting from inside the meeting.

 

4) We are also working on the possibility of a statewide public sector union picket on June 23rd. This picket will show that the solidarity that is being forged between public sector unions does indeed have teeth. It is mine and many other's belief that without such an action, we will be regarded as a non-threat.

 

5) Currently, Ellen is working on an announcement for the June 16th action and I will be working on a press release shortly which I think should be put out Monday morning - we can get aid from NJ Working Families for outreach.

 

6) For those of you who can make this on such short notice, there is going to be a conference call for the original action committee today at 3pm. Call in # 218-936-7979
Access # 501332. We will be discussing The Tulumty's action as well as a possible state-wide day of solidarity actions in the North and South planned for sometime late next week where we may show up at the homes/offices of key legislators.

 

More to come soon, but I need to get going. Later on today or tomorrow I will provide a summary of today's conference call as well as a list of all other actions that have been decided upon by the Better Choices Coalition per last night's meeting.
