Dear Friends,
First of all, update on J.R. – still battling Bell’s Palsy. He got zero results from the steroids – all they did was elevate his blood sugar and make him irritable! The good news is, we were told (by our son, James) about a “natural” remedy called Monolauren, which is derived from coconut oil. We ordered some, it came yesterday, and after only 24 hours, there is a marked improvement!! More than anything, J.R. feels better today than he has since this all started on 7/20. His speech is a bit plainer, and his facial appearance has improved, I’d say, about 25%. So we’re very hopeful that this “natural” cure will help him keep improving!
Also, please note the weekly budget report at the end of today's devotional. As you can see, we’re not quite half-way to our monthly budget, and there are only two days left this month! If you’re able to help, we’ll greatly appreciate it!
Again, thank you all for your prayers, and God bless you all!
Bonnie & J.R.

PUTTING OUT FLEECE -- Judges 6:36-38 NIV
Gideon said to God, "If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised - look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said." And that is what happened. Gideon rose early the next day; he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew - a bowlful of water.
Gideon was wise. He wanted to ask God first before he set out to deliver Israel from the hands of the Midianites. He didn't act like you and me – jumping in first and asking God later. No, he wisely sought God's guidance before he took on the challenge. And he was specific; he wanted to be absolutely sure he understood God's answer to his question. So he told God he was going to put some fleece outside during the night. When he woke up the next morning, if the fleece was wet and the ground was dry around it, he would know that was what God wanted him to do. And the next morning, he had his answer. In fact, the fleece was so wet that Gideon drained a bowl full of water from it!
If we settle down long enough to ask God first before we act, you and I can do the same – put out "fleece" when we need an answer from God. And we will get an answer. But in order to understand the answer, we have to be tuned in to Him. We have to read His word and pray daily in order to hear the answer and to understand it.
If you're on the brink of a decision, put out some "fleece" and wait for your answer before acting.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." James 1:5 NIV
