When I turned back to the computer it seemed to be "restarting". I'm using the scare quotes because I don't think it was rebooting from scratch since I didn't see the Apple logo with progress bar, which can be a little slow on my system.
So how can I check why it just "restarted"? I want to know if my crashing problem came back after such a long time of stability, if asking Chrome to update somehow allowed the other pending upgrades to restart the OS, or if it was some other reason.
I use Terminal a lot, so my answer will include commands used in that application. I know Console provides details, but I rarely see it as more than a GUI to access the logs. Terminal can be found in the Utilities folder which is found in the Applications folder.
After a while, you should see a message which contains a number indicating a reason. To find the meaning of that number, you can use this site: -causes/. For example, my last shutdown cause was "-128" which, unfortunately, is "unknown".
Though I occasionally have a peek at the logs in console.app I find that a lot of what is displayed is confusing and/or just "noise." However you may find a system message in there that might point to why your system restarted.
If your iPhone starts glitching, the first step you should take is to restart your phone. In some instances, the apps on your phone may be the reason for glitches. If all fails, one should think about taking the iPhone to the nearest Apple istoreor to replace the phone altogether.
Many types of Iphones glitches may come as a result of running high-powered apps, way above the running capacity of the phone's GPU and on some occasions, a decrease in your battery will also lead to glitches. If you face the same problem again, you can visit any of the nearest iStores or contact any 3rd party websites for screen replacement. Some of the popular sites include maxbhi, amazon, xfurbish.com and so on...
my iPhone x just started doing something similar a couple of months ago. the screen had never been replaced, i cleaned the whole phone+speakers regularly and i always had a case on it. it was in the shower and a little water got on top of the case and it shut off and would not turn back on. the next day i finally got it to turn back on but face id didn't work and then a couple weeks later the screen turned static (like you said just like an old tv).
It's a file you add from Xcode. New / File / iOS / Resource / App Privacy. After that, you add to it like the below image. I'm using Xcode 15 beta 5 to do this. It's not available with current, non-beta version of Xcode.
I think the message here is that one should wait until the last moment before conforming to Apple's new policies. Presumably, xcode 15 (where privacy is supported) will be in production release before they start cracking down on app privacy configurations.
Is there something else that's required for the newly added privacy manifest to be recognized during review? The file is currently located at the root directory of my project; next to the .xcodeproj file
I'm having trouble with NSPrivacyAccessedAPICategoryDiskSpace.NSPrivacyAccessedAPICategoryDiskSpace appears when I list the symbols in the compiled binary. My code uses NSFileManager to find and load resources, but it never checks the free space in the system or volume.
I find the interface in Xcode to edit these .plist files really clunky (and the 'reasons' for using an API aren't up to date and also don't filter according to the API you've selected). I own an app development company and have to create like 50 of these in the next few weeks. So I built a form to generate them really quickly and have published it so anyone can use it:
That is a very nice tool and thank you for that! I beat my head against this issue for a couple of days... trying everything I could think of in the PrivacyInfo ... and lo and behold I was creating the plist correctly... but for some reason if you add the PrivacyINfo into your xCode project, unlike adding any other Swift file, it doesn't mark the PrivacyInfo file for Target Membership in your build. So as you continue to submit trying to figure out why you keep getting those emails from Apple ... this may be the reason. Check that the Target Membership was selected for this file in xCode...
I am new to coding so pardon my naivety. I made a simple app for my company where customers can place orders and leave their names and phones numbers. Upon placing an order the app creates a collection in Google Firebase then generates an email with some HTML code. My app does not use any API's directly, and I believe I received the warning email solely because of the Firebase SDK like many others. I updated my app with what I believe to be proper "declaration of the data collected by my app or by third-party SDKs" according to _manifest_files/describing_data_use_in_privacy_manifests - but I am wondering if I actually did it correctly. To the OP, thank you for addressing this issue and thank you SpaceMan for getting me started.
I read the WHOLE huge document - it makes no sense? I've not breached anything? The legal terms and conditions also mention they give 30 days notice if they wish to deactivate an account and that is enough time to cure any issues.
I call back and a new advisor says the same thing. No information. I emphasise how stressful this is, and they pass me to a senior technician. This senior technician was great, a helpful person. He tells me he can activate it and confirms my ID via my devices and speaks openly to me. I didn't get his name (the biggest mistake of my life). He tells me he just needs to check something he will put me on hold. After the 40 minute call, the song interrupts (me thinking his back) and the call ends.
I call back, a new advisor......... back to square one. Same advice, she can't do anything. She says she put in a request again for me. Then she tells me there's no notes from the guy I spoke to?!? So there is no record.
This is absolutely criminal. I only want to know why my account was disabled and no one is willing to help me at all. It's unbelievable. The amount of sensitive information I gave to the Apple Advisor. I just do not understand how Apple can deactivate you without any reason and any notice.
First time they said they would submit a reactivate request. Then a few days later I got an email saying the request was denied. Log-in message would turn from "Apple ID is inactive" so something like "Apple ID and password is incorrect".
Third time I called just now, they said actually no one has the information to the reason why it is blocked/deactivated/removed. She said this type of inactivation was a system automated flag and action, and all she can do is to note to her leader/ superiors my frustration and feedback to improve the system.
It is an ongoing problem , I had called them , they re-activated, then disabled it again. The customer service advised me to log out from Apple ID , then create a new one , try to back up your phone to the new Apple ID, guess what happened? They disabled my new Apple ID too. No explanation, no reason, just banning me from App Store , even cannot update my apps , I had my first account for 10 years never did anything wrong. There should be a class action against Apple for prohibiting consumer with no basis from accessing the App Store, this is getting out of hand.
Thank you - I was just messaging my friend now and having a rant at how Apple did this. But you're spot on. I am completely fine with going back to old school and backing up data and not relying on cloud etc. The problem is Apple advertising it like its something you should depend on, which sadly I as a fool fell into their trap.
Regarding escalation, so everyone I spoke to after the first call was a "Senior" and I said to them I want to speak to someone higher they said there is no one else higher. In addition, I said how can I communicate this though as its crazy Apple has just taken my data and are not allowing me to access my "own" data. (Yes I understand they own it all and I don't) but this is just absolutely crazy. I was so stressed now I've just given up on Apple. Worst bit is I just spent couple of grands on their new MacBook. Would have thought otherwise if I knew Apple is like this. Definitely going to think twice when making any new purchases.
One other thing I asked the last advisor was "do you know why I got deactivated and you're just not telling me, or do you actually not know" he used the same scripted line. Therefore they know, they just can't tell you for "legal reasons". It makes no sense. Treating me like some sort of criminal. Disgusting. Really really traumatised from this. Imagine your whole life data wiped just cause someone felt like pushing a button. Truly gives me perspective to how much we rely on technology.
I just had the same situation. Contact support can not help anything, just emailed the security department, asking me to wait 24h. But 24 hours after receiving the email, the reply is still "not eligible for reactivation". No reason, just said to disable my account, now a lot of my precious documents on icloud are likely to be lost, my 5 devices can't log in either. A bad experience. Hope someone can help me
Well I think if Apple is willing to give a reason to why accounts are removed without any notice and chances for appeal, then I think it will prevent users from doing those things. As for creating accounts, that may be a reason but also might not, as it is not an explanation given by Apple. You see why the non-communication is a problem?
Telling us to speculate reasons and avoid all potential scenarios and subsequently telling us to contact Apple are both ineffective suggestions as those have proven above already not to be solutions to the problem, with respect.
You would need to check what you are doing to generate a need to create an ID so many times. I have had one ID for 20 years and no issue. Apple may have security and fraud flags set up so you are probably doing something to trigger those. Determine what behavior may be triggering those and stop doing it.
