I'm trying to create a Software item to filter for PCs that actually have Winzip. So far so good as I am checking for programfiles\winzip\winzip32.exe but is there something I can check to see if the installed copy is the registered or eval version?

I still have winzip 18 and refuse to upgrade any further since I have seen nothing in the upgrades to produce more security. I thought about 7-zip but there were a lot of cautions on the info page so I decided to stick with winzip.

GUI-based applications like PKZIP and winzip (and the GUI version of 7z/7zip) let us browse around our directories and create a compressed file that contains lots of different directories and files, complete with [partial or full] paths.

i think, the issue Might be the user on your end isnt comfortable with Change and doesnt want to rock the Boat, it could be that the use of Compression tech in thier Daily job is essential and doesnt want to rock the Boat. best thing is to have them both and use the 7zip.(you may need to do some hand holding when they do thier first few zipping )but after that, it should be fine to move away from winzip should everything happen seeemlessly.

Step 3. After it finishes the download process, you can click the winzip.exe file at the bottom of your browser or open the location where the WinZip app file is saved to open its installer. Then follow the on-screen instructions to install WinZip on your PC.

I run some tests, zipping files with windows (via compressed folders), winzip and 7z.:
- If I use 7z or winzip to zip, it will keep the original timestamps when unzipping the files.
- If I use compressed folders, 7z will not include the original timestamps when unzipping.
- In every case, WinZip includes the right original timestamp in the three properties "Date Created", "Date Last Accessed" and "Date Modified".

Has anyone tried zipping folders (either through winzip, winrar and created .7z, .rar, .tar, .wim or other archive formats) with android and then extracted to PC and preserved date created, date modified and date accessed of that folder?
