Manufacturing engineering technology is responsible for the production of a variety of consumer and industrial goods from Boeing new 777x planes to designer jeans to dialysis machines. Through the use of computer aided equipment and other planning tools to assess manufacturing processes, a manufacturing engineering technologist is on the lookout for ways to reduce cost, increase productivity, innovate equipment, and improve quality for a variety of consumer and industrial goods.

The state-wide Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP) connects students with industry externships, providing sought-after skills and jumpstarting a career before graduation. We welcome full-time students, transfer students, part-time students, and working professionals at our Klamath Falls and Portland-Metro campuses.

With a strong technical foundation in conventional and advanced manufacturing technologies, extensive training as team-players and project managers, our graduates are ready for technical and managerial careers in manufacturing areas like production, quality assurance, lean manufacturing, research and development, technical sales, and supervision.

Developing Innovative Thinkers.
Manufacturing Engineering Technologists design, develop, test, and optimize manufacturing processes and mechanical devices, including tools, power systems, and machines. They make sketches, develop factory layouts, record and analyze data, make calculations, provide cost estimates, and report findings. These technologists may manage the people, processes, and systems of manufacturing.

Why Manufacturing Engineering Technology at WKU?
Our Manufacturing Engineering Technology program prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and advanced manufacturing management skills in support of industrial operations. The major includes instruction in optimization theory, human factors, organizational behavior, industrial processes, industrial planning procedures, computer applications, quality, and technical document preparation. Graduates achieve positions of leadership in business and industry while practicing innovation in a global context.

WKU students have a variety of scholarships for which they can apply. Information about these scholarships can be found at www.wku.edu/financialaid/scholarships. There are scholarships established for the students in the MET program which are listed in the table below.

Through a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory exercises, and real-world projects, students gain a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, quality control, and automation technologies.

Join Us Today! Take the first step towards a successful career in manufacturing engineering technology by enrolling in the associate degree program at UC Clermont College. Whether you're a recent high school graduate, a working professional looking to advance your career, or someone seeking a new path in the manufacturing industry, we welcome you to join our vibrant learning community.

This program is open to all students with a high school diploma or GED and the desire to succeed in college. Although admission is open, students accepted into the program must meet the academic standards of the program to advance to upper levels of study.

As a first-year student, you will need to take an English and mathematics placement test if you have not obtained the minimum ACT/SAT score required for exemption. These tests do not affect your admission; however, the results are essential for your proper placement in classes. You must complete placement tests before you register for English or mathematics courses. All placement tests are given free of charge.

To succeed in the field, you need attention to detail, good communication skills, and should be a well-organized, logical thinker. You should also be curious about how things work and how they are made.

Academic advising is an essential part of your educational experience.

We are committed to providing advice and assistance throughout your academic journey. You and your advisor work together to create an academic plan based on your goals.
