With a HiFi subscription I use a HiFi supportet Harman Kardon device. Does anybody know wether Bluetooth connection provides HiFi quality on a HiFi supported device or is Wfi or Cable the only alternatives? Steinar Bakken, Oslo, Norway

Note that this page mixes speakers with other soundsystems and/or receivers, so just looking for the company name plus the yellow HiFi sticker can be misleading. But the good news is that there seem to be some HK devices with Deezer HiFi support.

Whatever its detailed specifications are (max. sample rate, bit depth and bitrate are not enough), in the end transcoding between aptX HD (or lower standard Bluetooth codecs) and FLAC would be necessary to support what you are looking for, and my guess is this is not implemented. So hoping for an improved Chromecast connection with Deezer HiFi streaming in FLAC format to your Harman Kardon device is probably more realistic if it supports Chromecast at all.

What happens when I listen to hifi flac sound quality with Bluetooth headphones that support up to 660kbps or 990kbps bitrate? Will I be able to take advantage of the Bluetooth 660kbps or 990kbps or will the audio quality automatically resort back to Deezer's high quality of only 320kbps when listening with any Bluetooth headphones?

It is particularly useful when looking to get information about the people involved in the music creation process of an album and its tracks, such as composers, lyricists, producers, engineers, and the like. Specifically, these are the tag fields parsed by the script:

Because I like to have the discnumber in the track too, I prefer tracknumber-formats like
101/11 (for the first track of the first disk),
201/11 (for the first track of the secornd disk)
Could you tell me how to change your script to achieve this? Otherwise I have to work over this manually after using the script.

I understand you, as I also like tuning my scripts to my liking so their output follows my preferred tag fields structure, but creating a lot of scripts with these kind of minor changes makes future updates to the script a bit of a nightmare. The best way to go in these situations is an Action, you shouldn't have to do it manually.

I've marked the modified sections using comments starting with this string: ### Poster mod
As I told you, when these scripts have to deal with number formatting it's not as simple as a one-liner change . There are several changes scattered through the code.

Great work vikaesar
Just a quick request please, is it possible to add the following (so it matches more closely the tags you get on flac from deezer?):
ARTISTS
BARCODE
COPYRIGHT
EXPLICIT
LABEL
LENGTH
MEDIA
SOURCE
SOURCEID

Yes, I can write a modified version of the script to output some of those tags, which are commonly used with audio file formats using Vorbis comments for tagging purposes such as FLAC, instead of the ones currently used.

You can use the set function to set all other tags written apart from the ISRC at the bottom. Or delete all other outputto functions below the [ParserScriptAlbum] part. You will probably need the title there too so can line the correct track up with the left side in the info tag panel.

Interestingly if i use my beoplay 6 or Beocentre 1 as 'lead speaker' in multi room and play deezer it displays FLAC on the B&O App. If i select my moment or my beocentre 2 (connected by an essence) and play deezer the App doesn't say FLAC, even though i assume FLAC is distributed through each speak and system.

In my system, I have an essence Mk2, a BeoSound 35, an M5, aMoment, and an Avant Mk1. I am located in the US, I have upgraded to DeezerHiFi, have all my devices running their respective current software, and I amusing only the public release of the moment software and the B&O app.

Today, I tried using the B&O app to play Deezer via the B&Oapp on each of my devices. I could only get the FLAC indicator to display onthe B&O app when I played Deezer via the B&O app on the M5. When I played Deezer via the B&O app oneach of the essence Mk2, the BeoSound 35, the Moment, and the Avant Mk1, the FLACindicator did not display on the B&O app.

However, when I played Deezer via the B&O app on the M5(with the FLAC indicator displayed on the B&O app), and I added other multiroomdevices, it played and continued to display the FLAC indicator on the B&Oapp regardless of what other multiroom devices I added.

My best guess is that the B&O app and the M5 has beenupgraded to support Deezer HiFi, but that other devices have not yet had thesoftware update to support this. People testingthe beta Moment software say it supports Deezer HiFi, so I believe Deezer HiFisupport is coming in the next software update. The question I have is whether DeezerHiFi support will be coming to the essence Mk2, BeoSound 35, and Avant Mk1. It is possible the devices support DeezerHiFi, and all that is missing is the indication that FLAC is playing.

I'm unable to upgrade, however. I select "explore the Deezer Hifi offer", and then "start your 30 day trial" under the Hifi heading. I'm then taken to a page where it says that I already have Deezer Premium+, and I'm being taken to my music feed.

One thing I noticed in the small print was that new subs were immediate and no refunds / credit from any previous subscription could be claimed - as my premium+ monthly sub was taken YESTERDAY I would have effectively been charged twice this month - 9.99 for premium+ and then ANOTHER 9.99 to start a (discounted) HiFi sub.

Thought of a thing: Maybe it's because I subscribe through Apple's app store? I checked, and this month expires in just five days anyway, so I cancelled the auto-renewal og the subscription and will now wait for it to expire. After it has, I'll try the Hifi offer again.

Yes, ditto here. Very happy with it

Thanks to Hjort for the tip on seaching for Hifi in Deezer. Up comes playlists of songs with high sound quality. I must say that just on my A6, it sounds very good. I listened for hours this weekend. No listening fatigue.

The development for this release focused on the tools, flac and metaflac, whereas the previous few releases had the focus on libFLAC. The main improvement in flac is its handling of foreign metadata on decoding a file (i.e. restoring the foreign metadata), metaflac has had a few features added. Both tools have been vetted with fuzzing, resulting in numerous small fixes.

Besides the libraries and tools provided here, there are manyindependently implemented encoders and decoders of the FLAC format. Tohelp developers of FLAC decoders to improve their product,a set of conformance test filescan be found at github under the name FLAC decoder testbench.

A new release after 18 months of improvements, triggered by a security issue. Faster encoding and decoding, slightly better compression. Many small code and build improvements. See the changelog for more information

Two new FLAC streaming services have been announced recently: Deezer Elite and TIDAL. Deezer Elite, which streams exclusively in the FLAC format, will at first only be available to owners of a Sonos sound system living in the United States. Steam now sells the soundtrack of the game Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion as a DLC. It contains over 2 hours of music from the game. The DLC consists of the soundtrack in two formats: MP3 and FLAC.

At $699 not your average media player, but this Astell & Kern AK100 from iRiver Japan comes with support for WAV, FLAC, APE, OGG Vorbis and of course MP3 and stands out for being able of playing 192kHz/24-bit files, the latter being only possible when using either WAV of FLAC as file format. Beside using it as a (portable) media player, it can be used as DAC as well
