Hi all,
Fab news - Matt over at Hualian Outdoors, the expat-run company that specializes in river tracing etc around Taroko National Park has very generously offered a group of five of us a FREE day's river tracing up to Erzi hot springs, a well-known completely natural hot spring near Hualian. He's throwing in transport connections from H, lunch and insurance.

You might want to check out Hualian Outdoors' website and see what they get up to: http://www.hualienoutdoors.org/

We've agreed on August 24th to 25th.  To make a weekend of it (and drive a little more income his way - he's really kind in doing this, as all I've done is direct a few people his way), I propose we make a weekend of it, heading down Friday evening, camping or staying cheaply Friday and Saturday night there, river tracing on Saturday and on Sunday walking the awesome Zuilu Old Trail, the famous cliff trail, on a vertical rockface 500 meters above the gorge.

There are only four spots (beside mine) on the trip, so there probably won't be room for everyone interested in coming. Important for those interested in coming:

You MUST be an intermediate to advanced swimmer to join this trip (which I think means being quite at home in deep water). Hopefully this one won't be as hard as the dreaded Golden Grotto nearby (which we did a couple of years ago as a group), so those that have done that should be OK here.

Since there will probably be more people wanting to come than there will be spots for, I finally get to exercise my unlimited  powesr as leader and precedence will be given to people who are regulars, whom I know well, and those who have been river tracing before.
Please let me know asap if you want to come, and I'll inform the lucky few in a few days!

Cheers

Richard
