I've ported the latest version of TaintDroid to CyanogenMod 10, currently Android 4.1.2, and built two ROM, one for emulator & one for Galaxy S II (i9100). I've tested the ROM with the emulator and my phone (I have only one Android phone, i.e., i9100). So far, everything works well. Besides, I plan to solve some false-positive and false negative taint results.

Hi,

Is the port fully functional? I'm referring to all the sensors, camera, etc. working without hick-ups. Have you tested some games on it, and if so do they run properly? I'm asking because I do not own this phone, but if the port is better than what I can get with my build on Galaxy Nexus, it could be worth my time to purchase the S2.

Thanks,

Stan Okounev

I've used my ported version on my daily used mobile phone (i9100). All the popular apps, and GPS, camera, etc, work properly. I seldom play games on my mobile phone. I only tested Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja. Both of them run fluently. TaintDroid does not modify the 2D/3D graphic framework of Android, so in theory, it should not prevent games running on it.
BTW, although I do not have a Galaxy Nexus, I could provide a ROM for it because I can abstract the non-open-sourced binaries from the official CM-10 ROMs and integrated them into my ported version.
     Best regards.

If you could build a ROM for Galaxy Nexus I would highly appreciate it! I have the Maguro variety of Galaxy Nexus with this cm-10.0.0-maguro.zip  Cyanogen build being the right one in my understanding. Thank you very much for the offer. It will save my some money not having to buy i9100.

Hello Wen!

I've extensively tested the ROM that you built for Galaxy Nexus. Everything is working great. Thank you once again.
I've looked through ROM building instructions for CyanogenMod, however, I'm not sure of steps that need to be taken to integrate the TaintDroid code into the procedure. Would you be able to share the steps with me so that I can perhaps build other ROMs for other phones?

Best,

Stan

Hi Stan
I'm very glad to hear that the ROM works well.
To integrate the TaintDroid code into CM, I work out the TaintDroid modifications and merge them into CM source code. What I need to do next is just following the build instructions of CM.
The reason why I port TaintDroid to CM is making TaintDroid run on more phones and bringing this great work into our daily work.
From now on, I plan to solve some bugs, which incur false-positive and false-negative taint results, and integrate more security features into CM.
I've built some TaintDroid-CM-10 ROMs for the following devices and started to upload them to some network disk.
      Google Nexus S (crespo)
      Google Nexus S 4G (crespo4g)
      Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GSM) (maguro)
      Samsung Galaxy Nexus (vzw) (toro)
      Samsung Galaxy Note (n7000)
      Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T) (quincyatt)
      Samsung Galaxy Note (TMUS) (quincytmo)
Samsung Galaxy S II (intl) (i9100)
Samsung Galaxy S III (intl) (i9300)
      Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (n7100)
      Samsung Galaxy S (galaxysmtd)
      Samsung Galaxy S (B) (galaxysbmtd)
Samsung Galaxy S III (Sprint) (d2spr)
Samsung Galaxy S III (TMUS) (d2tmo)
Samsung Galaxy S III (US Cell) (d2usc)
Samsung Galaxy S III (vzw) (d2vzw)
Samsung Galaxy S2 ATT LTE (skyrocket)
      Samsung Galaxy S2 T-Mobile (hercules)
      Samsung Galaxy S2 ATT (i777)
      Samsung Galaxy S III (AT&T) (d2att)
      Samsung Galaxy S III (M. PCS) (d2mtr)
      Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G (t769)
I hope there could more TaintDroid fans which would like to try these ROMs just like you.
   Best,
                                 Yan Wen

Hi Yan Wen!

I've been tinkering with CyanogenMod and TaintDroid source code in order to try and do the porting myself. However my expertise are insufficient. Could you please let me know how to incorporate TaintDroid source into the CyanogenMod manifest without breaking the sync process. I can't seem to figure it out. If you have instructions on how to port handy could you please let me have those? If you like you can communicate directly with me to sta...@gmail.com.

Thanks,

Stan

Does anyone know if and where these are available?  I have a Galaxy SII and would love to run the CM-TaintDroid on it.

Hi Wen Yan,

wonder if you would be able to share the repository for your TaintDroid i9300 build? It would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Thank you so much for this.
I have downloaded and extracted the ROM for emulator.
I did not found any installation guidelines.
Actually I am using Ubuntu 64 bit operating system on my computer and want to install taintdroid for emulator. Please provide me installation guidelines.

Thanks,
Ritesh
