hi everyone. long time no see. my2004 fabia 1.2 htp has been behaving very well, but noticed the spanner and insp come up today on dash. it was fully serviced 23/4/15 and had insp msg reset at service. i haven't even done 4,000 miles and it come up again. one of my mates says it has a variable service indicator, which calculates ur driving style and works out ur average miles? is he right? do i need another service?
Like Mr Rooney says means you are due a service, I believe the light comes on 30 days before you are due a service. You can reset yourself again I think Mr Rooney has that right, otherwise check the handbook it does say in there.
I think they probably reset only the oil interval as that was the one that came up. They did the full inspection as well as I hadn't had the car long and didn't want to have anything skipped. My book has a stamp for the same thing more or less annually.
On my 2011 Fabia, I went through the MFD menu (while parked or it gets the hump and doesn't give all options), into the settings menu, then it was under service and obvious from there... Have you tried with the engine off / stationary?
Previously posted by Seboni elsewhere....
With the car off, press and HOLD the 0.00 button for the odometer reset
Continue Holding the 0.00 button and turn the ignition key to on. MFD reads "Service Now!". Keep holding the 0.00 button and then press the MINUTE button for the clock set. Let go of everything and you're done
R1chard seems to have the same problem as I posted a couple of months ago. Link to my earlier post:- -resetting-service-display-on-maxidot/ I guess our cars are a similar age. I have tried the tip mentioned by xman but all that does is zero the Oil Change reminder. It has no effect on the "Inspection Due" reminder which is now telling me I am -1200 miles overdue and annoyingly "Bongs" and flashes a reminder every time I start the car. This must be a problem that someone out there knows the answer to. I will keep my fingers crossed!!
Good luck to you R1chard with that. I took my car back to the dealer for them to have a second go and all they managed to do was zero the Oil Change again. Like you I will have to go on ignoring it. But then I might take up the suggestion of goneoffSKI and demand they do another oil change FOC. Though I am surprised that this forum is not viewed by someone within Skoda or who works at a dealership that knows the answer to our problem.
As wacky is it sounds - but it works! for inspection warning reset, do the following: activate the hazard warning lights, as it is on, press the 0.00 button, and turn the egnition on half turn. it will display the "are you sure message", and you should enter OK, and turn the egnition off and on again.
tehany - You are 'The Man'. Just tried your tip and lo and behold it worked. I was very sceptical at first, it will certainly be a nice change to turn on the ignition without the warning alarm and message after more than 8 months of it. I don't think I'll even ask how you knew that was the way to do it. It will certainly be interesting when my car goes for its next service to see if the dealer knows how to do it yet. Thanks again for taking time to post.
I always forget from one time to the next, especially as the Polo and Fabia technique is slightly different. In fact last time the Fabia showed INSP I used VCDS to get rid of it. It's in one of the adaptation channels for the Instruments module.
I was struggling with that too! Everyone says "turn the reset button" but you try to do it and it feels wrong, like there is nothing to turn. I thought I had an older dashboard or something. There's no feedback, no click, no movement. Actually that's what you are supposed to do, turn it gently and hold there for a second and that's it. It works.
On mine, turning the trip reset one way advances the clock in hours, whilst turning the trip button the other way advances the minutes. Pushing the trip in resets the trip. AS per my copy of manual resets both insp and oil I've always had to this all the time I've owned the vehicle as I don't trust the local stealer and have used indies, who don't seem to know how to reset trip. I'm old school and use my service record to keep track of services, brake pad & shoe replacement etc.
TMB- I presume that's an old PCB, or you handled it using up to date ESR precautions, else it's also now a potentially fried PCB and it now comes with fries fries ( chips ) on it. ( as in a fast food place saying "do you want fries with that?")?
hi guys i am trying to reset the inspection light on my fabia vrs se and have tried the usual way by pressing the button on the speedo with ignition off, then pressing again with ignition on, in the display i get -1100 then -34, i used to have a 2004 vrs and had no problems resetting that, am i doing somthing wrong? any hepl would be greatful thanks
mines a 56 blt engine..i held the trip reset button in...turned ignition on and held for 10 secs then whilst the button was still depressed turned it to the right and the spanner goes away...
IIRC there are 2 methods stated in the manual. Dependant on whether or not the vehicle has variable service times. I'll take a look when I get home (if I remember). But the method where by you turn the reset knob worked on my SE.
I have not had my pre-loved Citigo too long. It was serviced prior to purchase and examined immediately after purchase by a competent mechanic. Overkill, but worth it to have the sloshing noise fixed and peace of mind.
Then it starts with this pinging when I turn on the ignition, getting louder and more irritating each time I switch on. It took me a while to spot the insp service reminder and link that to the pinging.
My point is that Skoda need to make this procedure clearer and include it in the user manual. I am used to getting an annual service check and MOT regardless of mileage. The mechanic would not be able to reset the alarm as it had yet to happen. Then when it did, I would have to revisit them to have it reset.
As with other manufacturers they want you to service the car at specified intervals, and kind of want to scare you into getting it done. Arguably it's not a safety issue, but it is a do it if you want your car to keep running smoothly issue. As we all know regular servicing helps. Therefore they're not going to advertise how you turn it off as they recommend you service at a dealers.
Hi all,Have the same problem with my fabia mk1.Inspection flashes, but i cant reset.Have tried all the suggestions here, but no matter what i do it still just flashes "inspection" on and off.Turning knob to the right also does nothing!Anyone got any other ideas?
Are cineva idee?? Am fabia 2001, 1,4 mpi AQW, computer simos 3.
