Imhaving the same issue - SDDR-89 12-in-1 reader is not reading the SDHC cards for mac. It reads other SD cards on mac and in PC it works fine with everything. Sandisk doesnt provide the driver or the firmware update in mac platform.

I went into Programs & Features in the Control Panel (or just search "programs and features" in the Start menu) and opened it up. Then, in the list of all the programs, I scrolled down towards the bottom where all the Bootcamp drivers are (meaning the Windows Driver Packages). I selected the Apple SD Card Reader driver (if you can't find it, just search "Apple SD" in the search bar at the top right), and then clicked Uninstall/Change. Then I clicked Yes when the confirmation window appeared. Then I tried inserting an SD card into the reader, and it worked! It automatically installed a separate driver called "Broadcom SD SCSI Disk Device.

Tried almost everything i could, reinstalled Windows, reinstalled Bootcamp drivers, uninstalled Apple SD Card drivers/Broadcom SD Card drivers, tried manual installation of SD Card drivers, but no luck.

You should take a look at that discussion if you're experiencing this issue yes. Previous to windows 10.1 I was experiencing the SD card dropping off after sleep, but after Windows updated I am now experiencing this on every boot:

If I uninstall that unknown device, it resintalls just like that again. I've tried updating bootcamp drivers to the latest ones available several times. I've tried the suggestion in the post above to try without the apple SD card driver. None of them work.

For over three years now (see date of first post on first link below), a wide range of Macbook users have reported severe problems with the bootcamp SD card driver, we think for a particular Broadcom chipset. The issue got progressively worse with the release of Windows 10, and now with the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition (1607 release) the SD Card is inoperable: on boot we receive Set Address Failed (see last link for latest post) and no known workaround exists. Boot into bootcamp on a Macbook pro Retina (other users have found the problem in Macbook Airs also - see posts) which uses the affected broadcom chipset, running Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. Try to access content stored on an SD Card using the inbuilt SD Card reader.

Note the number of users affected, the diversity of their hardware, the amount of time that has expired since reports came in and the perceived lack of faith from users in a resolution due to Apple and Microsoft (for whom users are both paid customers) not seeking to resolve the issue. Hence I would suggest this is very urgent.

I have upgrade to Mac OS 14 and my smart card reader quit working. Works in safe mode and while booting up. Then stops functioning.Allow Accessories to connect is not visible. However, I can search for the function but not select it.MacBook Air M1, Sonoma Beta.

Mine has stopped working also. I can view the USB Card readers in the System Report, but it appears the readers aren't reading my actual card. Likely a firmware issue. Tried on two different card readers. 2020 MBP M1, Sonoma Developer Beta 2.

The latest update push did not solve our issue. I really relied on my MacBook Air M1 for telework. Now, I have to use a Microsoft device. Not good at the moment. I might need to roll back off the beta program until this issue with trusted USB devices is solved.

The smart card and reader works perfectly in Ventura and worked perfectly in the first developer beta of macOS Sonoma, but somewhere either beta 2 or beta 3 of the developer previews it stopped working.

I have replicated this with a clean install on different Mac hardware and the same issue. This is a Sonoma issue and not a reader or Mac hardware issue as the same reader and smart card continue to work well if I plug them into Ventura machine.

Just to confirm, a clean install of the released public version on 27th September - and still smart cards are NOT working, whereas they work perfectly on Ventura (and did on initial developer builds of Sonoma)

Yeah, it's not completely fixed for me, either. I'm on the RC, or Gold Master, or wherever we are at now. I can use the card reader to open sites in Safari, and to log into our virtual desktop, but once I do that, I can't use it for anything inside the virtual desktop. It can see the card reader but can't read the tokens off it. This same computer (2022 M1 MBP) worked fine the day prior to updating to the RC. No changes to hardware or software apart from the OS itself, and it stopped passing card reader credentials through to the virtual machine.

I GOT IT WORKING in macOS 14.1 Beta (23B5046f) by INSTEAD of connecting by USB, I connected with BlueTooth using the GBDM App (Gemalto Card Reader for Barclays iPortal login) and connecting the card reader by BLUETOOTH (which has NEVER been possible in Ventura, it always failed to connect)

I had been using a Saicoo card reader (FBA_S0201B-SSM) which was working fine on macOS 13 (Ventura). Upon upgrading to Sonoma 14.0, the reader stopped functioning. I then purchased the Belkin F1DN008U card reader and it works out of the box with no additional drivers. I also have heard success with the Identiv SCR3310v2.0 card reader on macOS 14.0. Hope this helps if someone is encountering the same issue. It appears like there may be some card readers that stop functioning on macOS 14.0 due to the built in driver not being compatible.

When you go to the Download drivers section on hp.com, you can enter your system type, for example EliteBook 840. It then should list all available drivers for your system. Has never let me down so far.

If your Asian customer has all this urgency, you better let him buy a CAC reader USB. Unfortunately support issues in this keyboard date back many years ago, and probably the HP does not have an interest in providing updated drivers for 64-bit systems.

The problem may not be the driver or the keyboard, but that the driver for the smart card is not installed. Where I work we use Gemalto .Net Smart Cards and we had to install specific drivers for the cards themselves to get them to work with Windows.
