SinceIOS 16.1 update my lock screen wallpaper randomly changes to a black screen. When looking at Settings, the correct picture shows as my current wallpaper. The only way I've found to get the correct picture back is to turn the phone off and turn it back on. Anyone else have a permanent fix?

iphone 13 user. I did the 16.1 update a few days ago. I woke today to black lock screen and main screen. I read this issue on a few other boards. The reboot is what I suggested, but this will need to be a patch fix from Apple in my opinion. Reboot brought back main screen wallpaper for a short time and it went black again. Lock Screen still black after reboot.

My 13 Pro Max has been restarted more times since the 16.1 update than any other iphone of mine was restarted during the years of my ownership. It's very frustrating and shocking that a patch fix has not already been pushed out since I too have read of this happening to many iphone owners.

I finally got it to stop going to black by changing the pictures I use for my wallpapers. I didn't want to change but the screen going black was making me crazy. It's pretty pathetic that Apple hasn't fixed the issue or at least told users that the wallpaper pictures need to be changed. The crazy thing is that my husband's phone isn't doing it and he has the same model phone.

iOS 16.2 has been nothing but a disaster of bugs. My screen is going black as well. Instagram no longer works. My apps are iPhone size now and will not go full screen. Apple needs to fix this. I am furious. This upgrade has really screwed up my iPad. FIX THIS APPLE!

I don't have another copy of the photo currently as my screen saver, and I love the photo. Not sure why, but I can't find it among my photos. Is there some way to extract it from the only place I see it (under Wallpaper) and then reload it? Maybe this is easy to do, but I have no idea ...

Apple, please fix this. I want the photo I have now (the one that disappears and goes to black until I reboot the phone. I think I'll go back to the store where I bought the phone and insist that they replace it, since apparently this doesn't happen to everyone.

I took my phone to the AT&T store (where I originally bought it) and they told me to install an optional update they saw was available on my phone. This was about 3 weeks ago. Once I did that, the wallpaper screen stopped disappearing.

I recently had to update my iPhone 12 multiple times. Subsequently now it refuses to KEEP the SAME Wallpaper that I have it set to as CURRENT wallpaper! It reverts back x's25 times a day back to a BLACK STAR gazing mode!!!! That I do NOT like nor do I want that.
