Custom field in Taiga for User story estimation

Hi All,

i just got the code and  i want to do some manipulations .i want to add Esitmation time field corresponding to New user stories. Can some one help me with that. i do not have experience with Python .

Any pointers would be of great help. thanks.

Hello!,

Actually user stories have estimations, could you explain us why adding this new field (it seems a duplicated one)?. Taiga also support custom fields, in your project admin area you can create fields for the different type of Taiga objects (tasks, issues and userstories).

Hi Alejandro, 

thanks for reply, i want to implement in Prio list in Backlogs corresponding to every user story  Estimation time (may be drop down) to tell how much time one particular user story will take.

i am still exploring all the options and if its not possible that way then may be you could tell me the particular files i need to update both at front and back end.  

My requirement is simple for every USer Story in Backlogs should have Estimation time(input or drop down)

I think I understand what you want to do, if you have the custom fields the data it will be accessible via API so I think you could do it just changing the front app. I think even a better approach could be just having a local plugin for your brwoser (tampermonkey for chrome, greasemonkey for firefox...) that just add this info in a visualization level.

Thanks a lot :) but dont i require Backend as well ? how this value will be saved ? in backlogs as we have points for a user story similarly i want a Estimated time for a user Story. I am sorry for being pain :)

If you add the custom field for that extra info you shouldn't need to touch the backend, you could make just a front script that when you are under certain circumstances just add's the  custom fields info received from the API to your visualization.

Hi,

Unfortunately Tamper Monkey is not easy to use for me and i really dont understand how it will help me here.

Second what i am planning is , as you told me to map the Custom Added field(as a built in feature).

  files in taiga-front-modified/app/partials/sprints/ needs to be modified i believe.

  

Other than above mentioned i believe i have to modify sprints.coffee as well.

Please correct me if i am wrong and do we need to update any other file ?

I do not want spoon feeding but i hardly understand Angular js  and Python .

If you are not comfortable with the tampermonkey you can start playing with that files and you would be in the right direction (but in my opinion it will be more complicated changing the app code). Actually Taiga code can be a bit difficult to understand, I would recommend you to study the doc and make some tutorials about angular (for playing with the front) and django, python and rest-framework (for the back).
