Hi,

There are a lot of project management platform and I think that taiga.io is a great bussiness idea due is simple (but has the important think covered) and is open source (many people will use it and collaborate in development).

Taiga solved a lot of problem related to project management platform but I think it lack one important thing:   Employer time tracking

I saw complex software as Trac, Redmine, Jira, Bitrix, .... that allows your employees track the work time, but a detail level that most of the time is not required (no much company analyze the data so the over effort of the employers to introduce the data in a realistic way is lost [most of the time, this tidy task consume a lot of time).

I believe that the important thing is to know the worked time by employees by project, not the fine grain.

I think that parallel to taiga.io could be interesting a intelligent Time Tracking Tool that read from Taiga.io in what projects are you involved in order to offer you track time on it, also, if the system detect some activity on some projects, they will be listed on the top, to make things easy.  I also think that is interesting to allow admin register projecs that are not related to a taiga.io projects to make it more flexible.

The admin may have access to some typical reports (time spent per project per month/year) , Filters could be added (select some employees, select a team  and also comparison of results.

What do you guys think?  If you are interested I think we could collaborate in some way.  I know you guys due I'm an ex-employee of Yaco Sistemas and we did a PIWEEK toguether time ago.

Best regards.

Hello Sixto!,

I'ts nice to hear from you again!, I hope we could see you again in the next piweek (a link from the last one http://www.kaleidos.net/blog/335/6piweek/).

Actually we don't plan to add time tracking inside the taiga core but adding custom fields to issues, tasks and user stories is in the top of our backlog. With that feature and the API (the same the web app is using) the system you are thinking about could be built. We could offer you all the API support you need if you are interested in developing it ;)

Regards!,

Hello Alejandro,

Taiga is a great product, thanks for creating and sharing this great!
I have a request to have time tracking in Taiga too. From your conversation above, I think it's impossible in this time, but I hope there will be a change in yours soon.
In addition, can you show me how to add "Custom field" to Issue/Task/User story? I find no place to do that.

Thanks so much,
Lan Phan.

Hello Lan,

Custom fields is one of the features we are still working on, so you will have to wait a little bit longer :).

We don't plan adding time tracking inside the taiga core as an individual feature but with custom fields you could add any kind of extra info (not only time) you need to issues, user stories and tasks.

Regards

Hi Daniel

Time tracking or anything related to that is something we're considering for TaigaNext (see https://blog.taiga.io/announcing_taiganext.html) but there is nothing conclusive yet.
Custom Fields are already there and Toggle integration is used by a lot of teams, they can sort out many uses cases.
