Can someone offer a brief explanation of the four categories used to calculate story points: UX, Design, Front, and Back? Particularly, how are UX and Design distinct from one another?

Hi,

First of all, thanks for using Taiga.

The categories are completely configurable, are the roles of the users
that have estimations. UX is the Interaction and User Experience
design, the Design is Visual Design, Front is for frontend development
(Interface development) and Back is for backend development (database
access, bussiness logic, etc...)

Anyway you can configure it to use your own roles and enable or
disable which of them have estimations.

Regards :)
