Hi Team,

I could Taiga only provides the option to assign Priority only for Issues but not for User Stories.. So, it appears we're left with only using custom fields or tags to specify the priority for a user story.

Is there any reason why Taiga didnt extend this Priority Field feature to User Stories please?

Many Thanks
Karthik

Hi Karthikeyan,

if your project use the Scrum template the priority of the story is represented according to its position in the Product Backlog

If you use Kanban the behavior is the same, you can drag and drop the cards (stories) up and down.

Many Thanks for the swift response David.. I now understand how this is done in Taiga. couple of more questions please:

a)   So, if a story is prioritised (up or down) in the product backlog, is there a way that Taiga would notify the users watching that particular story about the change please?

b)  We want only the product owner to move the story within the backlog. So, how to set this permission only to product owner please? at the same the business analysts would need access to edit the contents of the story but not change the priority.

Kind Regards
Karthik

Taiga has not notify this changes because we, and some users, have noticed that the repriorization process (in sprint planning meetings for example) can generate a lot of noise. The prioritization of the backlog is only the responsibility of the product owner and doesn't affect to the rest of the team that is working on the current sprint.

Taiga trusts people. The team will not boycott their own project, so permissions only apply restrictions over entities and not only over some of their attributes. Taiga records all the changes and you can see them in the Activity section of a story, task or issue.

Thanks a lot David.. Are you suggesting Taiga logs the activity if the story priority is changed within the product backlog please? Because when I checked, I couldn't see them logged. So, I think it would better if we know somehow who and when the priority was changed please.

Kind Regards

No, right now Taiga doesn't log the information about the reprioritization because generate a lot of noise; for example, if you have a backlog with 40 stories and you move the last story to the top you are reprioritizing all the stories in the backlog so you see a new entry in activity section of all the stories.
