Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, this year's Diwali releases, have both been in a neck-to-neck battle at the box office for the last one week. The Karan Johar-directed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn's Shivaay have both completed one week at the box office, and the domestic collections of the two films are in.
Both Karan Johar and Ajay Devgn have had their fans waiting for their respective films for quite some time now. While Karan's last full-length feature film was the 2012 Student Of The Year (he did a short segment for the film Bombay Talkies in 2013), Ajay Devgn was last on the director's chair for his 2008 film U Me Aur Hum. Both Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay had their own audiences; while the KJo fandom wanted to watch Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma's story of love, friendship and heartbreak, Ajay Devgn had his fans waiting with bated breath for the kickass action sequences in Shivaay.
Ever since the promos of both the films were released on the internet, they have attracted much attention. Ranbir and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's sizzling chemistry in the teaser, trailer and other promos of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil made several hearts skip a beat. On the other hand, Shivaay had Ajay Devgn fighting the entire world to save his daughter. The films created enough buzz among their fan-bases well before release, and all of it worked in favour of the films.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is the story of musician Ayan (Ranbir) and Alizeh (Anushka), their friendship and love. The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Fawad Khan, Lisa Haydon, Alia Bhatt, Imran Abbas and Shah Rukh Khan as the supporting cast.
The budget of Shivaay is Rs 105 crore, if 'official' figures are to be taken into consideration. It will take this Ajay Devgn film some time to recover that money, and then go on to becoming a hit. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, on the other hand, is said to have a budget of Rs 70 crore. The Karan Johar film has already crossed that mark in six days of release.
Ajay Devgn for long is known for his kickass action moves, is back once more with his dream project, Shivaay. After coming up with a first look of the film, the makers of the film give us one more teaser. The poster shows Ajay's chiseled bicep with a long serpent tatoo on it. The film is Ajay's pet project and the film went under a lot of changes before the actor finally began shooting for it. The film is all set to release in Diwali and man, we are excited for the flick. Dilip Kumar - Saira banu's grandniece Sayesha Saiga will be introduced in this flick. We are dying to see this beauty's look in the film. Shivaay's earlier poster had Ajay hang from the lap of HImalayas. The film will be shot in the north of India and the unit will then take off to Hyderabad before heading to Bulgaria to shoot major portions of the film! Now this sounds pretty ambitious! And we can't wait to get more news about the flick for sure. Shivaay will release with Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, it is assumed in a grand face off! Ishqbaaaz and Dil Boley Oberoi are, frankly one of the most popular shows from Star Plus and from whole Indian Television in general. But, in many ways, the two shows represent what we can term as, the worst characteristics of Indian Television. Now, with some path breaking shows, Indian Television has been making great achievements. Shows like Kya Kasoor Hai Amla Ka and Shakthi, that highlight the new thinking that India needs, while there are also shows like Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji which dignify forced marriage and more backward ideologies.
And coming to Rudra. Now, Rudra is a splendid character. Just wonderful when used properly. In the start of the show, all they had him be was this dumb bodybuilder who got stuck between an over feminist girl and a technical villain. Everything about that arc was wrong. From the drugged marriage to the shitty reason for divorce and separation. It is completely pointless.
One Paragraph and we covered pretty much everything that happened through the whole year of the TV show. And that is without including the spin off which is more worse.
I do admit that the show had really amazing characters and great scenes. But, if you think carefully, the show it exploiting those two factors way too much.
Compared to Dil Boley Oberoi, Ishqbaaz is a fast show. Doing the same as above, here is the summary of four months of a show.
Omkara meets Gauri. Omkara misunderstands Gauri while Gauri is forced to marry Kali. Gauri escapes Kali and while she is caught by villagers, Omkara saves her by marrying her. He refuses the marriage and leaves while Gauri devotes herself to Omkara. Gauri comes to Mumbai and gets a job, turning into a boy, coincidentally becoming friend with Omkara. (All this happened in the first two weeks.)
After that, for the rest of the four months, they literally dragged out Svetlana, each night going inches close to the secret and taking back, literally toying with us for 3 months continuously until three weeks ago, when Svetlana was revealed. After all this we finally see a meaningful story where Rudra meets Bavya.
First i m very disappointed with title how can u say IB cancer.First time i m mad for show named ib.And u r saying that ib is having no story kya aap mujhe bata sakti h ki jin shows ki trp 2.0 se upar h jaise kumkum bhagya and naagin unki kya story h they r just rewind the story and show and ppl see that.Atleast ib toh aaisa nhi h.Forced marriage is just becoz of that misunderstanding created by daksh.That shivaay thinks that anika is cheap girl.Many ppl say about forced marriage in ib aare situation bhi toh samjho yaar.Ishanna i know that character is awesome but there no fault of ib bcoz vrushika left the show.If u think that ib having no story woh toh kisi ki bhi nhi hoti we love the characters and chemistry they share.I m sorry if u get hurt with my comment becoz i want to say this.Again sry.
I never said the characters are bad. In fact, the characters are, in my view, the reason the show has so many followers. But, you have to accept how much they change the character each and every episode for silly reasons.
Woaw, even I felt almost the same things as u mentioned. Clearly, the show and esp. Ishqbaaz is deviating & deteriorating. However, I have literally stopped watching Ishqbaaz because of the typical saas-bahu drama of pinky & anika.
Another issue with both the shows is the poor use of thriller elements that they try to introduce in the show with the villains..that fail .always because of the IQ reducing and science insulting plot points..
