I have the 1.4 update for prime 4 installed on my stand alone unit and the latest version of serato downloaded on my laptop (free version) when i follow the steps the tutorial shows i get connected but when i do the controller doesn t respond at all but the serato screen appears on the screen of the prime 4 and apart you can not do anything with it, i also see that when serato plug in is connected like it shoud the serato logo appears within the joggs, that doesn t happen either
while trying to copy the tags from Flac files to newly generated .mp3- or .aif versions of the same files, i noticed that tags for Beatgrids and Cue Point Markers of the copys will not get read by the Serato DJ Software.
The Serato-specific tags SERATO_BEATGRIDS, SERATO_MARKERS_V2 etc. are written to the mp3 copies (verified under "erweiterte tags"), and most of the "normal" tags as well as album art of the copys are shown perfectly in the Serato Software. But when loading the copied file to a deck, it will get reanalyzed and won't have any Cue-Points.
Not sure, on which site the problem lies, as Serato seems to behave a little sketchy in terms of reading tags: after deleting all tags from test-files and even removing the file from the crate in Serato and adding it again, some few tags as Artist etc (tags that correspond to my selected crate columns) are re-written to the files. Also tried the "Rescan ID3 Tag" button without any luck.
It would be great to be able to also copy the Beatgrids and CuePoint Markers to different audio-formats of the same tracks, as these are often set manually for each track, meaning lots of work for whole libraries.
First of all thanks for those quick replies! not sure, if i understood correctly, with regards to Florians reply i tried to copy the tags from my FLACs to newly created .mp4 versions (with aac codec) without success with the Beatgrids and Cue Point Markers (rest was copied and shown correctly in the Serato Software).

Please firstly note that saved beatgrids cannot be transferred between re-encoded tracks, as this information is not stored in the ID3 tag but rather in the Serato folder alongside other Serato library info. If they haven't been edited, you can still get the same beatgrid back by just analysing them
Can you share some of the original files so I could reproduce it here? I'm not a Serato user, but I know that quite some DJs are already using Mp3tag for Mac and I haven't heard anything like that before.
You will need Serato DJ Pro to test. You can download it for free. You will see that my files have been tagged and that some have been colour coded. All files have a key lock symbol (meaning the beatgrid is locked) . You can only edit the beatgrid if you open up the lock by control-clicking it. It seems MP3Tag for Mac somehow changed the beatgrids (some files got unlocked) and colour codes, amongst other things...

I've applied the Case Conversion to UPPER for _TAG for the test files and used the "Rescan ID3 Tags" option from Serato. I've also accidentally messed up my whole local library by first pressing the "Analyze Files" option which made Serato write all kinds of tags into my files.
Serato is storing all kinds of internal metadata in the file's tags. As you can see from the screenshot, there is a field for BEATGRID and also fields for MARKERS, MARKERSV2 and so on. The contents of those fields consist of both upper- and lowercase letters and numbers, basically binary data encoded as strings.

From now on, I will apply the uppercase action to the artist and title fields only. Those are the only fields that I would like to be in uppercase, anyhow.
hi, i dont have any crossfader options to adjust in the mixer tab of serato dj pro (latest version on macos 12.0 monterey) with the inpulse 500 connected.
the crossfader is acting completely linear, so a track only reaches full volume at 100% of the crossfader range. it is unusable, so i have had to disable the crossfader with the switch on the hardware.
Indeed, it is a limit in the options of the current Serato DJ Pro builds: as DJControl Inpulse 500 has a 3-position crossfader switch (Mix, scratch, disabled) the Settings > Mixer > Crossfader options are removed, which removes from Serato Pro:
- the reverse crossfader mode (hamster),
- the intermediary curves.
After searching every single website I could find i suddenly realized that ... I can midimap the crossfader curve to something on the controller that I don't use and likely will never use .. THE AUX FILTER knob. I plugged in one of my old faulty controllers that DO give me access to the crossfader curve in Serato's settings, with the Impulse 500 Connected at the same time, then used midi mode to set the crossfader curve to the aux filter knob.
I also tested it after shutting Serato down completely and unplugging the Impulse 500. Now I have full crossfader curve control by sacrificing the aux filter knob. In the event that I need to use the Aux in for an emergency I can also set the filter to the Middle which gives me a nice smooth balanced curve.
The only thing to remember is that when loading Serato the first time it will set the crossfader curve to whichever option you have the switch set to on the impulse 500 so you have to turn the aux filter knob so it takes over then set it to your desired position. Now i can keep using this controller for the next year or so while I save for another 'Big Boy'
the impulse 500 is by far the worst console to use with serato dj pro all because of the crossfader....why did they even put in on there if it dosnt do what a tipical crossfader is suppose to....It basically does what u could do with the left and right valume faders....i totally regret purchasing it i wish i had done more research before i bought it

Until the inception of Serato Sample, Serato Pitch n Time was proprietary to Mac and Pro Tools users. The Serato Sample is now offered as a VST so that it is compatible with any DAW that supports them. I have downloaded a trial version but am having trouble with its full operation.

Any word if NI will try to have stem separation when sampling with Maschine. I understand I could purchase Serato Sample and use that but i would like to save $200cad and keep using NI? With the expanding world of products maybe they could use Izotope tech ie RX10?
Cubase added Spectralayers One in version 11 (back in 2020). You can unmix vocals and drag the separated vocals and instruments into your project. It loads as an ARA extension. You don't export; you literally just click a button, wait for it to process and then just drag the result to a new track.
