Qt 4.4 is needed by the upcoming KDE 4.1, and the beta is not
currently progressing rapidly enough to be in shape for the next KDE
release. Furthermore, libkdegames 4.0.x has not entered
Debian/unstable itself, and has already been replaced by a 4.1
pre-release snapshot in Debian/experimental, which makes tagua debs
basically unusable.
Things being that, it looks a good idea to make a new release, so at
least we don't scare out our potential users :)
That said, I have noticed when installing the tagua deb on a brand new
Debian box, that the default (shipped) font for shogi is not complete
enough for the Sho Shogi and Tori Shogi variants - and not even
complete enough to use the 2-glyph theme for Shogi itself.
Since we're probably not going to implement #47 in the next weeks,
I'll look at the fontforge scripts and generate a new suitable subset
to ship with tagua.
BTW, I downloaded the original mikachan font from sourceforge.jp, and
found the following copyright notice in it:
> This font is free.
> However, copyright is not gave up by Mikachan
> If user had damege or loss by using this font,Mikachan doesn't have
> any responsibility.
>
> Prohibition
> To sell font which is distribute on the web site of Mikachan Font.
> To change the font design to sell.
>
> Terms for using
> You can use fonts for personal and on business.
> You can distribute and publish.
> Author hopes information from you, when you publish something.
> When you use on business, if you give a sample picture, Mikachan can

I am not 100% sure, but the "prohibition to sell" clause seems a bit
restrictive. Given that mikachan is not of a very high quality
(non-calligraphic hand-written), and the number of free fonts we have
at our hand, I think it'd be far better to switch to another font.
If one of you has its own pet japanese font, raise your voice now :)
These, with the compilation fixes for g++-4.3 already in stable
branch, are the only items currently on my list for alpha3, which I
think we should release ASAP.
Any other things I forgot ?
Best regards,
